🚨News alert!🚨 Ascent is honored to be included in today's The Wall Street Journal article entitled, "Combining Solar Power With Farming Is Getting Easier. Developers Are Wary of Added Costs" "Thornton, Colo.-based company Ascent Solar Technologies manufactures flexible solar panels that cost three or four times more per watt than traditional PV panels... ...'They pay you to grow crops and they give you subsidies to grow #solar, which, if you actually do agrivoltaics, it’s a win-win,' Ascent CEO Paul Warley said." “I’m probably going to have to go open up an office in Europe,” Warley said. https://lnkd.in/eMzDWYPF #solarpower #solarenergy #agrivoltaics

ICYMI: "Under a Texas sun, #agrivoltaics offer farmers a new way to make money" via The Washington Post: https://lnkd.in/gqAb2TdM From the article: 💡 Solar grazing provides proven benefits to the land as well. Unlike emission-producing mowers and toxic herbicides, sheep convert vegetation into a natural fertilizer, restoring soil health. #agriculture 💡 The industry is projected to be valued at $9.3 billion by 2031. 💡 There is growing interest in grazing cattle underneath solar panels. This year, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) launched the Large Animal and Solar System Operations (#LASSO) Prize, providing millions of dollars for research around solar development and cattle grazing. #farming #solarpower #solarenergy

“This goal of having infrastructure in space that’s truly resilient to conditions on the ground is really appealing,” said Baiju Bhatt, the billionaire cofounder of fintech company Robinhood 📢 His company, Aetherflux, aims to build a constellation of power-generating satellites and receiving stations 🛰️ The story goes on to say "one big advantage of this approach is that it allows for smaller, cheaper satellites instead of large, costly satellites or solar arrays, which makes both iteration and scale easier and reduces launch costs." 💪 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eDQ28dMd #spacetech #solarpower #solarenergy

As an established #solar brand, we often receive questions about the future of the solar industry. One of the best indicators of the future is the past, or more appropriately - the present. Below are some figures from Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA)'s September 2024 Solar Market Insight Report that show solar's impact on the economy, families and emissions reduction amid the global clean energy transition: Current Solar Capacity ➡️ 209.8 GW Total Solar Jobs ➡️ 279,447 Value of Solar Market in 2023 ➡️ $60.1 billion Number of U.S. Solar Businesses ➡️ 10,000+ Total Solar Systems Installed in the U.S. ➡️ 5,137,576 10-year Solar PV Price Decline ➡️ 43% Carbon Emissions Reduced ➡️ 224 million metric tons Read the full SEIA Solar Market Insight Report, here: https://lnkd.in/eJ4a2Hh6 #solarpower #solarenergy #cleanenergy

🇺🇸 ☀ "In fact, the U.S. solar #manufacturing boom could be big enough to allow the country to soon become a net exporter of solar panels for the first time in decades. In the infinitesimally small chance that all announced growth plans are realized, the U.S. could expand its module capacity to 53.9 gigawatts by the end of 2024 and 139.5 gigawatts by 2027, according to the report, more than the country is likely to need itself." ☀ 🇺🇸 Per Eric Wesoff for Canary Media Inc.: https://lnkd.in/gH6i_Z3v #solar #solarpower #cleanenergy

Congratulations to The University of Toledo on receiving up to $15 million from the Air Force Research Laboratory in support of a team of physicists exploring new ways to harvest solar energy in outer space, namely #thinfilm solar. Worth noting from the release, a message consistent with Ascent's own perspective: "While #space-based and ground-based #solar cells operate very similarly, the harsh environment of outer space presents unique challenges and opportunities. Space-based cells are positioned to harvest significantly more energy, for example, but in turn must withstand significantly higher levels of potentially damaging particle radiation and greater fluctuations in temperature as a cell moves in relation to the sun. Cells also must be extremely lightweight so that agencies can reasonably afford to launch them into orbit. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dMfmJtCy
