Experienced clinicians know: “Guidelines” are more than just training. This year, the CDC proposed a few remarkable updates*: First, the CDC clarified the conceptual framework of transmission, focusing on transmission elements relevant to healthcare settings. And for the first time, shared medical equipment emerged as having the same transmission category as unwashed hands. For example, stethoscopes went from “non-critical” devices to significant reservoirs for the transmission of pathogens via touch. 📢 “Transmission can involve intermediary reservoirs.” Says the CDC draft guidelines. “Potential reservoirs include... shared medical equipment (e.g., stethoscopes…)” The CDC also addressed dedicating equipment to the patient: 📢 “Patient-care equipment (e.g.,… stethoscopes) is ideally dedicated to the patient. Disposable equipment may be used to minimize cross-transmission.” Not only should hygiene tools be standard, but also accessible. The draft guideline clarified that healthcare facilities should ensure: • Hygiene tools are easy to find at points of care (POCs) • All personnel know the proper use case of each item In short, the CDC’s practical standards are putting patient protection first. And rightfully so, as healthcare becomes more demanding, infections more costly, and patients more aware of their well-being. Clinicians know the real value of hygiene practices: it’s more than just training. Standard protocols streamline patient protection and make clinicians’ jobs easier. •••••••• 🩺 For the first time, you can now examinate your patient touch-free. The DiskCover System takes 2 seconds, no formal training, and provides an aseptic surface for auscultation. It is visual proof that your facility is ensuring patient safety. Ever noticed why healthcare evolved? 🤔 💉 Wood’s 1853 modern syringe turned a once complex and inconsistent practice quick and accurate 📈 Rocci’s 1896 blood pressure cuffs enabled effortless and real-time hypertension tracking  ❤️ Einthoven’s 1903 ECG made cardiovascular care quick and reliable In each case, innovation came out of a need for performance, ease of use, or accessibility—paralleling how The DiskCover System was born. The DiskCover System is placed right at the point of care (POC). It simplifies infection control by turning a tedious, manual process into an effortless, automated one. •••••••••••• Interested in trying the first touch-free stethoscope barrier? ICU nurse Jennifer Folds wasn’t wearing scrubs when she saved the life of Wayne Colburn. Folds was driving past a local Burger King on her day off. She suddenly noticed something amiss: A man lay motionless on the pavement, his body sprawled between his car and the curb. Fold's nursing instincts kicked in. She leaped into action without hesitation. She turned Colburn on his back, performing CPR on him until paramedics arrived. 🗣️ “Mr. Colburn, I know you don’t know me ...” she began as Colburn woke up later in a hospital bed. 🗣️ “I know who you are. You’re my angel,” Colburn responded. This story is a reminder that nurses are heroes. Jennifer Folds proved that a nurse outside the ICU still feels on-call to save lives. 👩🏻⚕️ Via EMS1: 5 Stories of Hero Nurses Who Went Above and Beyond.

🏥 How can hospital management improve a vague metric like “patient experience”? Hospitals with better patient ratings earn disproportionately more revenue per adjusted patient day*. The classic advice is to have a solid action plan with timely feedback and metrics across all medical procedures. However, Pareto’s 80/20 principle applies in hospitals too. Most patient interactions likely happen during common routine procedures. This means blood collection, drug administration, and stethoscope hygiene weigh more on patient experience. How safe do patients feel with your stethoscopes, needles, and administrative procedures? Patient experience is more about perception and feeling. Simply show patients you’re taking the best practices to ensure their well-being. *The term "adjusted patient day" accounts for both inpatient and outpatient services. •••••••••••• For the first time, you can now auscultate without touching the patient skin or worrying about contamination. The DiskCover System makes stethoscopes 100% touch-free and clean for the first time. It takes 2 seconds, no formal training, and is easier and safer than wipes.
