#WhoWeFundFridays The Hawai'i Institute of Pacific Agriculture The Hawaii Institute of Pacific Agriculture's (HIP Ag) mission is to practice, teach, and deliver regenerative agricultural education programs. HIP Ag provides agriculture and nutrition education to students grades P-20 and supplies fresh produce to its community through restorative farming methods. Established in 2008, #HIPAG provides programs primarily in Kohala on the Big Island of Hawaii. HIP Ag currently serves individuals of all ages and backgrounds from Hawaii and beyond through its educational programs, weekly farmers market, and community events. HIP Ag works to support the Kohala district who has set a goal to produce 50% of the food it consumes and re-establish local agricultural education programs. "We do this through providing a P-20 Agriculture Education Pipeline & Community Agriculture Initiatives that include in-school programming, farm field trips, community events, Farm to School (F2S) & Garden to Cafeteria (G2C) coordination, and local food production and aggregation through our project, Kohala Food Hub." “Chlorophyll? More like borophyll!”⁣ - Billy Madison ⁣ Not so fast! Changing leaves are quite interesting. Leaves are colored by molecules called pigments. The pigment that causes leaves to be green is chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is important for plants to make food using sunlight. Food from sunlight? Don’t make us turn this post around!! During spring and summer when there is plenty of sunlight, plants make a lot of chlorophyll. In the fall, when it starts to get colder, some plants stop making chlorophyll. As chlorophyll goes away, other pigments start to show their colors. Hey, yellow and red! Enjoy a colorful display of fall foliage with in-person and virtual leaf-peeping trips at national parks. Besides longer ingredient lists and the proliferation of food additives, now up to 70% of genetically modified food in the supermarket is not labeled AT ALL 🚨🛒 thanks to a loophole that allows ‘highly refined’ foods that contain GMO ingredients to skip the labels! To stop corporations from hiding GMO ingredients from their customers, CFS filed a lawsuit to force USDA to require labeling of all GMO foods on the package. This lawsuit is our best hope to ensure we know when we’re buying GMO products, but we’ll need all the support we can get in our long fight ahead! ✍️ Add your name to our petition to spot GMOs in the grocery store. 🏷️ 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e9As9hXx 🎥: #intelligentwellbeing #GMOfree #nongmo #savesoil #regenag #toxicfree #toxicfreeliving #righttoknow #gmolabeling
