ACHD is dedicated to advancing the interests of California's Healthcare Districts and the communities they serve through education and advocacy. Healthcare Districts are public entities that provide community-based health care services to residents throughout the state. They respond to the needs in their District by providing a range of services, which may include a hospital, clinic, skilled nursing facility or emergency medical services; as well as education and wellness programs. Each of California’s Healthcare Districts is governed by a locally elected Board of Trustees who are directly accountable to the communities they serve.

Just wrapped up the opening keynote for the Association of California Healthcare Districts here in Sacramento, CA. Any opportunity to be in a room full of healthcare professionals is a great day. Outside of our conversation around the importance of prioritizing joy, the highlight was one audience members Pink Cadillac answer - a lovely lady in her 70’s having completely finished, and dominated, Super Mario Bros, a feat not yet achieved by her grandchildren. It was a fun session full of laughs. Big thanks to ACHD and Richard Schelp for making the magic happen!

I’m excited to announce another 2024 Leaders of Impact nominee from the Greater Sacramento Area……Sarah Bridge! Sarah will be joining an inspiring cohort of changemakers dedicated to combating cardiovascular disease and stroke on a global scale. Sarah accepted her nomination because she has witnessed firsthand the challenges imposed on loved ones impacted by cardiovascular issues. She is passionate about advocating for equitable health for all communities, especially in rural areas. Professionally, Sarah is the Vice President of Advocacy & Strategy for the Association of California Healthcare Districts (ACHD) and a Consultant for Deveau Burr Group, LLC. Her expertise centers around public health care providers, health access, health care workforce, local government and labor and employment. She is a passionate advocate for equitable access to health care services and decreasing health disparities for vulnerable communities. Prior to her current roles she served as a Vice President of Deveau Burr Group, LLC. Prior to joining Deveau Burr Group, Sarah was the Senior Director of Strategies 360, Sacramento. Previously she led the Association of California Healthcare Districts advocacy and public affairs as Senior Legislative Advocate. Sarah serves on the board of Capitol Network, a non-partisan philanthropic organization connecting women in government and political careers. She is a graduate of Chico State University and is currently pursuing a Juris Doctorate at the McGeorge School of Law, with a specialty in Advocacy. In her free time, Sarah competes on McGeorge’s negotiation team and volunteers with the Sacramento Crisis Nursery. Thank you, Sarah, for joining the American Heart Association as a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.
