Thank you, Congressman Buddy Carter (R-GA 01), for championing remote prescribing of clinically appropriate controlled substances past year-end. The House Committee on Energy and Commerce full markup was voted out unanimously in an extraordinary bipartisan vote of support, and we’ll continue to rely on our Congressional champions to ensure that access to telehealth in Medicare, commercial coverage, and the remote prescribing of clinically appropriate controlled substances continues past year-end, without unnecessary burdens like in-person requirements, allowing uninterrupted delivery of needed care, anywhere. ATA Action will continue to work urgently and collaboratively to ensure appropriate telehealth policies are implemented. 🚨 Urgent Action Needed to Preserve Access to Virtual Prescribing 🚨 Today, more than 330 stakeholder organizations joined in co-signing letters to Congress and the White House, urging them to extend the remote prescribing flexibilities for controlled substances by two years. Without this extension, millions of patients could lose access to lifesaving care at the end of this year. “This is a predictable and preventable crisis that is looming come January 1 and we are quickly running out of time to save countless patients from being abandoned, left without lifesaving clinically appropriate care,” said Kyle Zebley, the ATA’s senior vice president, public policy, and executive director, ATA Action. ATA Action and the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) are calling on Congress and the Biden Administration to act swiftly to protect telehealth prescribing and ensure that vulnerable patients can continue receiving the care they need. Let’s work together to prevent a healthcare crisis! 💻💊 #Telehealth #PatientCare #VirtualCare #ControlledSubstances #PolicyChange #HealthcareAccess Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eAhSEXTe
