Front Desk & Member Assistant (Part-Time)
The Athenaeum of Philadelphia
The Front Desk & Member Assistant is a part-time position that reports to the Executive Director. As part of a small but committed staff, the Assistant provides front desk hospitality, upkeeps the member lounge area and handles light administrative duties. Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Front Office Support & Lounge Management
• Greet all members, visitors, researchers and contractors
• Answer phone and direct calls
• Assist members and visitors with payments
• Receive and distribute mail
• Provide security to front of building and keep track of building attendance
• Manage processing of periodicals
• Process membership payments
• Keep Members Lounge organized and stocked with materials, coffee, etc.
Administrative Tasks
• Order and maintain supplies for staff, kitchen & events
• Manage daily calendar including daily coverage, closures, holidays & conference room
• Record building attendance and create building use reports
• Add visitor emails to newsletter database
• Schedule building tours
Events
• Assist with event check in and security as needed
Required Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills. Computer skills. Professional, friendly, and courteous. Strong interest in the arts, culture and history. Some college and customer service experience preferred.
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:45 am – 1:30 pm. (Evening program hours as available and needed.)
Pay range is $15-$25/hour commensurate with experience.
