By the National Basketball Association (NBA)’s elite athletic standards, Kobe Bryant's physical attributes, were nothing out of the ordinary. Sure, he was tall, but nothing crazy; he was fast, but not blazing; his hands were large, but not massive. What set Kobe apart was his mind 🧠—his mental fortitude, intelligence, and ability to focus amid chaos. It's that mental strength that differentiates the greats like Kobe and Stephen Curry. They deliver under the immense pressure of the entire universe watching, and they do so with absolute grace. Kobe always moved with intention. Like many great athletes, he could drum up motivation from almost anything, using the pain of defeat or setback as fuel to come back stronger. After witnessing Stephen Curry’s spectacular Olympic performance yesterday—hitting FOUR three-pointers in just TWO minutes and eleven seconds to close out and secure the gold medal against France in PARIS—I accidentally binge-watched all 6 episodes of his new scripted show, #MrThrowback, and I honestly can’t decide which I enjoyed more! 🏀🥇🎬
 But in a nutshell: I loved the show. It was fresh, funny, and incredibly clever.
 🎥 Currently streaming on NBCUniversal #peacock, Mr. Throwback, is a mockumentary-style comedy centered around three childhood friends. Stephen Curry plays a fictionalized version of himself, reunited with Danny, a down-and-out memorabilia dealer who was once his basketball teammate, played by Adam Pally, who absolutely nailed it bringing just the right amount of unhinged chaos to every scene. 
 🎥 The show humorously explores the dynamics of their friendship as adults, with Curry's rise to National Basketball Association (NBA) superstardom serving as a backdrop for Danny's attempt to reconcile their past and find redemption. They’re joined by Kim, played by SNL alum, Ego Nwodim, as the high-strung, third childhood friend turned Curry brand CEO who’s fiercely protective and hilariously intense. 🎥 The narrative cleverly balances the absurdity of their situations with moments of genuine connection, all while poking fun at the quirks of fame and nostalgia. There were so many ways this could have gone wrong, but in classic Curry fashion, he under promised and overdelivered.
 .. and here’s why it worked:
 1—The Comedy: It was genuinely hilarious. No forced laughs, just authentic, well-timed humor.
 2—The Casting: The trio of Stephen Curry, Adam Pally, and Ego Nwodim was perfectly balanced—each bringing something radically different yet somehow fitting together perfectly. 
 3—The Balance: Curry poking fun at himself while letting his co-stars shine. He knows when to step back and give others their moment. But I think he killed it in his own right too—that ‘branzino’ scene was hilarious.
 4—The Authenticity: The show doesn’t try to convince us that Curry is ‘just like us’—because he’s not. And that’s the point. Curry is one of a kind, and the show celebrates that in the best way. Everyone, including Curry himself, is aware of his “Hall of Fame Sweetie Boy” image (their words—not mine, lol), and they lean into that perfectly without resorting to forced hardship for sympathy. It’s this mix of high-stakes analysis and light-hearted absurdity that, ironically, humanizes him. 
 In one memorable scene, Kim breaks down the “Steph-enomics” of a potential Curry slump on a macro and micro level… and then cuts to a scene of them casually sipping on “placenta-ritas” Kim’s overprotective vibes also hit close to home—I mean, who hasn’t had to manage their friends’ professional lives with military precision while simultaneously keeping their own world from imploding? I felt seen (and maybe a little called out) lol #TeamUSA 🇺🇸
