  • 2025 - The year of the newsletter.

If you’re like me, you’ve probably noticed everyone in sports is jumping on the newsletter bandwagon (we helped launch 13 for our clients in 2024 alone). Here’s why: newsletters are becoming the way to build real fan relationships and drive revenue – and the data backs it up. Take Ohio State, for example. They’ve built a $1.32B empire by focusing on first-party data through strategies like newsletters, alumni engagement, and personalized outreach. The result? - $60M+ in targeted donations - 85% season ticket renewal rates (ridiculous) - 3x higher merch sales from segmented email lists It’s a simple formula: own the relationship with your fans, and the revenue follows. 2025 is the year to stop chasing vanity metrics and start focusing on what works. Newsletters are a powerful way to do just that. If you want to launch a newsletter for your team or program ASAP, shoot me a DM, and the team and I at Athletiverse will make it happen. And if you want the full Ohio State case study and our exclusive report on building first-party data strategies, check it out in my newsletter this week here → https://lnkd.in/gtKgMBRd 🥂 Here's to building in 2025!

  • We’re excited to share the success story of a recent partnership that delivered over 700% ROI. By tapping into nostalgia-driven storytelling, Athletiverse helped a college NIL collective achieve: - $70,000 in digital donations—the first time they’ve raised funds online! - $300,000+ in committed funds for 2025—an increase of 215% from prior years! Through tailored newsletters and targeted fan engagement, we’re proving that meaningful digital connections don’t just drive fan loyalty—they deliver substantial results. You can read the full report below.

  • This is a huge lesson we're bringing to our teams. When sports teams position themselves as lifestyle brands, they create multiple touch points for fan engagement beyond game day. The data shows that building a lifestyle brand creates more sustainable, profitable fan relationships than traditional sports marketing ever could.

Here's a cool trend all sports professionals should know... Sports CMOs Are Transforming Teams Into Creator Brands. While helping prepare our partners for 2025, I found a few interesting trends in data around this shift. The economics are clear: keeping fans is dramatically more profitable than finding new ones. Here's why sports teams are evolving their strategy: The Cost Reality: 1. It costs 5x more to acquire a new fan than keep an existing one 2. Teams lose a share of $136.8B annually from preventable fan switching 3. A mere 5% increase in fan retention can boost profits by 25-95% Translation: Your CURRENT fans are 3-12x more likely to buy from you. Which means retargeting frequencies need to increase or in most cases be established. This week's newsletter includes what smart marketing teams are doing about it and sharing our own playbook from Athletiverse we're supplying partners. • It's been an unbelievable Summer! Excited for what's next!

    CEO Athletiverse

The end of Summer marked the largest 3-month growth period in Athletiverse Inc.'s history. Here's what went down: It's wild to think that less than a year ago, we were brainstorming how to help clients own their audience and monetize directly. Now we're seeing real impact. 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀: - 6 new newsletters added. - 700,000+ total subscribers reached. - $2M+ client attributable revenue. - Launched Kyle Kuzma Kuz Kontrol newsletter. My favorite part is the 55% open rate average across all 11 newsletters. It's a testament to our team's incredible effort and the amazing stories behind the teams, brands, and players we create for. As we continue to help our partners... - Own their audience - Widen their revenue opportunities - Create and share stories that matter - Build cornerstones for athletes' future ventures if you're looking to deliver on any of these, I'd love to connect!
