The World Needs Black Media Compared to mainstream outlets, Black media sheds light on broader issues of injustice while offering essential historical context to current challenges and breaking news. Black media amplifies cultural expression and inclusivity by spotlighting Diaspora communities like Afro-Latinos, Afro-Caribbeans, Black Europeans, and more. Black media excels in addressing various health issues vital to Black communities, such as maternal health and diabetes. They also lead in highlighting voting access, labor rights, and environmental issues. There is a significant disparity between mainstream media in addressing white supremacy and privilege. Nearly one in four Black media articles addresses racism, a stark contrast to less than one in 10 in mainstream media.
