We are proud to share that Atlanta News First is the recipient of THREE national Edward R. Murrow Awards, sponsored by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA)! We were recognized in the large market category for Digital, Investigative Reporting and Hard News. “I’m excited and proud of our news team, and even more hopeful that the revelation of the injustices in these stories will ultimately result in changes that could help so many in the Atlanta area,” Atlanta News First General Manager Erik Schrader said. “These are the types of stories local newsrooms should be doing, and I’m so glad we are able to tell these stories on a consistent basis.” https://lnkd.in/eN8_hEFm

The Sixth, an in-depth investigative series produced by Atlanta News First Investigates (WANF-TV) and InvestigateTV, has been awarded a 2024 duPont-Columbia award. The series, led by investigative reporter Andy Pierrotti, examined the impact of public defender shortages throughout Georgia and the nation. While The Sixth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees citizens accused of crimes the right to an attorney if they can’t afford one and a speedy trial, the series uncovered hundreds of people behind bars with no legal representation for months at a time. Thank you to Columbia University. More on the series: https://lnkd.in/e4GkCW95

ICYMI: The Atlanta Hawks are making a comeback on over-the-air television! 😍
🏀 After almost 30 years away, the Atlanta Hawks are returning home to Peachtree TV (WPCH) in #Atlanta. "This is a tremendous opportunity to give Hawks fans a new, free way to watch our games this season," Atlanta Hawks & State Farm Arena Executive Vice President/Chief Revenue Officer Andrew Saltzman said. "We are thankful to Peachtree TV and Gray Television for making this a reality and look forward to returning the Hawks to our historic local partner for our Friday games." The Hawks return to broadcast is a homecoming for the franchise, which originally aired on WPCH (previously WTCG/WTBS) from 1972-1994 and WANF (previously WGNX/WGCL) from 1986-1993. “We are thrilled to bring the Hawks back to broadcast on Peachtree TV this season,” Atlanta News First Vice President and General Manager Erik Schrader said. “Sports on broadcast television make the games available to everyone. Not only do longtime fans get their favorite team for free, but it’s the best opportunity to grow new fans!” CLICK HERE to read the full press release - https://lnkd.in/ecUDF2EF
