Fighting food insecurity one meal at a time with the help of State Farm! Take a look back at our fourth Million Meal Pack event and the impact we made! One million meals are now available for those in need at Atlanta Community Food Bank, Hosea Helps, Midwest Food Bank, Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta and Sweetwater Mission.

As we continue to celebrate and honor the rich culture of the Hispanic and Latino communities, we are shining a light on our very own Julian Valdivia. Today, we celebrate you and the indescribable value that you bring to our organization every day. We are also highlighting La Semilla! They continue to pour into our community and the various ways in which we all thrive.

We are deeply saddened by the news of Dikembe Mutombo’s passing. Dikembe was a proud and honorable man, who lived up to the definition of a word that became synonymous with his name – humanitarian. He used his many gifts and his platform to improve the lives of everyone he encountered, especially in his homeland of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and throughout Africa. His passion for the game, its growth and the joy he brought to defense – including his undeniable presence and iconic ‘finger wag’ – made him a star on the court and with the fans around the globe. I was fortunate to have been able to call him a friend. My family and I were beyond proud to have him represent the Hawks organization on and off the court. With his jersey in the rafters, his life and legacy will always be remembered in Atlanta. 1 MILLION MEALS PACKED! Big thanks to State Farm and all the volunteers who joined us in the fight against food insecurity in Atlanta this past weekend and made a difference in our community!

Yesterday evening, our very own Head Coach Snyder and our Hawks Basketball Academy hosted our 13th annual Coaches Clinic presented by YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta. More than 200 local coaches gathered at the Emory Sports Medicine Complex, our official practice facility, to learn directly from our team’s coaching staff at the free clinic for a top-tier educational experience for basketball coaches in Georgia. More than 5,000 community coaches have benefited from our Hawks Basketball Academy’s Coaches Clinics, Virtual Coaches Clinic Series, and Jr. NBA Curriculum resources. Earlier today, together with State Farm, we welcomed 6,000 volunteers to our award-winning State Farm Arena to pack more than one million meals, setting a record time as part of the 2024 Million Meal Pack initiative. This year’s event set a record time for the event, packing more than one million meals in only 450 minutes. “We thank all of today’s volunteers for coming out to State Farm Arena to help us pack more than one million meals,” said Steve Koonin, our very own Chief Executive Officer. “Through our work with State Farm, we’re proud to address food insecurity throughout the city of Atlanta and see the incredible impact of this community service initiative.” More than one million meals packed during the event will be distributed throughout the Atlanta metro area with the operational support of U.S. Hunger, a hunger relief organization with innovative programs designed to help feed people struggling with food insecurity.
