ATMO® expresses its support for the Global Open Air Quality Standards (GO AQS), a global movement promoting the introduction of unified indoor air quality standards. Raising awareness about indoor and outdoor air pollution is a core value at ATMO. Our team believes that a universal standard has great potential to enhance the general public’s understanding of indoor air quality. The GO AQS draft has been published and will be updated following reviews from the committee and advisory experts. As a manufacturer of air quality monitoring products, we will closely follow the proposed thresholds and measurement system results. To access the GO AQS white paper, please visit goaqs.org. #goaqs #indoorairquality

We want to share news about a research project under the DOROTHY postdoctoral program, focused on creating healthy and sustainable indoor climates in classrooms in Ireland and Denmark. Led by DOROTHY and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions fellow Asit Kumar Mishra, the project aims to provide an easy-to-measure and interpret index for assessing classroom indoor environments. They’ve chosen the TAIL indoor environmental index and are using Atmocube air quality monitors to evaluate it. 📚 Asit points out that Atmocube is an affordable tool that measures indicators across all four TAIL domains: - thermal environment - air quality - lighting - noise This makes it an ideal choice for the project, raising awareness among parents, teachers, and students about indoor environmental quality. Research shows that informed occupants are more likely to make changes for a healthier indoor space. We’re proud that Atmocube monitors are enhancing awareness of indoor environmental health. #indoorairquality #airpollution #airqualitymonitoring #classroom

Are you looking to integrate real-time air quality data into your custom app? Atmotube PRO air quality monitor makes it possible. 👉 With our open Bluetooth API, researchers can create customized solutions for data retrieval and integration. You have the flexibility to access data from Atmotube PRO directly via Bluetooth advertising packets, making it adaptable for a wide range of applications. By integrating Atmotube PRO into your application, you can collect the specific data you need, at the time interval that you need. For instance, Neil E. Klepeis, Ph.D. and his team used Atmotube PRO in their Personal Exposure Toolkit (PET) project. They integrated it with custom PET Recorder app to store real-time air quality data, receiving PM readings every second to monitor immediate changes in air quality. 💡 Learn more about leveraging the Bluetooth API for your projects: https://lnkd.in/dYrj52HA https://lnkd.in/d7YdMHep #airqualitymonitoring #airquality #datacollection #research

A research project led by Neil E. Klepeis, Ph.D. at San Diego State University in collaboration with dfusion Inc., has introduced the Personal Exposure Toolkit (PET). The PET includes the PET Recorder app, which measures real-time exposure events, the Atmotube PRO air monitor, which connects to the PET Recorder via Bluetooth, and the PET Data Portal, which allows investigators to organize, visualize, analyze, and share exposure events measured by the PET Recorder. This toolkit serves as an accessible resource for conducting affordable exposure science and citizen science studies. PET not only facilitates real-time air quality monitoring but also enables sharing findings with peers, policymakers, and stakeholders in schools and communities. The Atmotube PRO's Bluetooth API enables seamless data transfer from Atmotube PRO directly to the PET Recorder mobile app. #airquality #citizenscience #research #datacollection #airqualitymonitoring

The University of Nevada, Reno conducted a study using Atmotube PRO to assess second-hand smoke in casinos. Associate Professor Eric Crosbie and his team visited 14 casinos and examined 18 different indoor locations across Washoe County, Nevada. The findings revealed significant levels of tobacco smoke markers in various areas of the casinos, even in places where few or no active smokers were present. The study underscored that indoor casino environments, including family-friendly areas like arcades and restaurants, exhibit high levels of second-hand smoke. Even with minimal active smokers present, ventilation systems were ineffective in preventing the spread of harmful smoke. Eric Crosbie emphasized that there is no safe level of exposure to second-hand smoke, which can lead to serious health issues such as heart disease and lung cancer. #indoorairquality #cleanair #health #secondhandsmoke

Dr. Timothy Nelin, an Attending Neonatologist at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, is leading a prospective, mixed-methods study using Atmotube PRO to understand the air pollution exposure preterm infants face after NICU discharge. The study will involve recruiting infant-caregiver pairs from the NICUs at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Caregivers will monitor air quality using Atmotube PRO over the course of a month, while healthcare facility visit data will be collected for a year to assess the impact on the infants' respiratory health and risk of hospital readmission. The study also aims to explore caregivers' perceptions of air pollution's effects on their preterm infants through semi-structured interviews and environmental exposure questionnaires. By providing real-time air quality measurements, Atmotube PRO will help caregivers and researchers gain a clearer understanding of local air pollution levels and their potential health impacts. Lindsey Abellard and Vy Le (in the picture) are part of Dr. Nelin’s research group. #publichealth #nicu #respiratorycare

In Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Atmotube PRO air quality monitors are part of an study funded by the The World Bank and conducted by MindEarth as part of an international consortium with urbaplan sa, OpenStreetMap Côte d’Ivoire and SEPIA Conseils. Abidjan faces significant challenges with heat stress and air pollution. The study aims to involve young local mappers to strengthen data collection, which is vital for understanding various environmental threats faced by local communities. It also seeks solutions for air pollution and heat stress through collaborative cartography and innovative urban planning, including nature-based solutions for flood risk mitigation. Government officials, students, and community members across Greater Abidjan are actively involved in gathering geospatial data using satellite imagery and fieldwork. This data covers crucial aspects such as solid waste, green spaces, heat islands, and air quality, facilitating disaster risk management and urban resilience planning. Atmotube PRO air quality monitors and the MindEarth App play key roles in collecting temperature and air quality data, mapping the distribution of pollutants over time, and creating comprehensive heat stress maps. Community engagement is central to the data collection process, ensuring the solutions are grounded in local needs and knowledge. #airquality #citizenscience #datacollection #airpollution #heatstress

To determine the effect of air pollution on cardiovascular health, researchers combined a wrist-worn device with the Atmotube air quality monitor. Researchers at the University of Patras in Greece found that particulate matter (PM2.5) and volatile organic compounds (TVOC) negatively impact heart rate variability (HRV). HRV measures the variation in time between heartbeats, which reflects the body's ability to manage stress and maintain overall health. The study used a wrist-wearable MAXREFDES103# health sensor band and the Atmotube PRO portable air quality monitor to continuously track HRV and indoor air quality (IAQ). The results showed that for every increase of 10.37 micrograms per cubic meter (μg/m³) in PM2.5 and 57.4 parts per billion (ppb) in TVOC, there was a decrease in two measures of HRV: a 5.3% drop in SDNN and a 7.08% drop in RMSSD. These findings are important for public health because HRV is a crucial indicator of cardiovascular health. #health #cardiovascularhealth #research #airquality #airpollution
