Making your resume stand out is crucial in a competitive job market. Here are some top ways to ensure your resume catches the attention of hiring managers: 𝟭. 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝗯 - Customize your resume for each position you apply for by highlighting the experiences, skills, and accomplishments that align with the job description. 𝟮. 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 - Opt for a clean and easy-to-read layout. Use bullet points, consistent formatting, and a professional font. Avoid excessive graphics or colors. 𝟯. 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 - Start with a compelling summary or objective statement that clearly outlines your professional background, key skills, and career goals. 𝟰. 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 - Use numbers and metrics to demonstrate your accomplishments (e.g., "Increased sales by 30%" or "Managed a team of 10"). 𝟱. 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 - Include a skills section that showcases your most relevant skills, particularly those mentioned in the job description. 𝟲. 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗯𝘀 - Use strong action verbs to describe your responsibilities and achievements (e.g., "Led," "Developed," "Implemented"). 𝟳. Include your LinkedIn profile if it’s polished and up-to-date. 𝟭𝟭. 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 - Ideally, your resume should be one page, especially if you have less than ten years of experience. Two pages can be acceptable for more experienced professionals. 𝟭𝟮. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁 - Carefully proofread your resume for any spelling, grammar, or formatting errors. Consider asking a friend or professional to review it. 𝟭𝟯. 𝗔𝗱𝗱 𝗮 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗼 𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 - If applicable, include a link to your portfolio or examples of your work to provide tangible evidence of your skills and accomplishments.

Word to the wise the Department of Labor (DOL) does not allow unpaid work. If you are an hourly/non-exempt employee, you are allowed by law to be paid for every minute you work. https://lnkd.in/gXqRG4-h

𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒.𝐓.𝐀.𝐑. 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝 By structuring your answers using the S.T.A.R. method (Situation, Task, Action, Result), you present a clear, concise, and compelling narrative that effectively showcases your abilities and accomplishments. 𝐒.𝐓.𝐀.𝐑. 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Describe the context within which you performed a task or faced a challenge at work. Be specific and concise. 𝐓𝐚𝐬𝐤: Explain the actual task or challenge. You should highlight the problem or objective you addressed. 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Detail your specific actions to address the task or challenge. Focus on what you did, why, and the skills or strategies you used. 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭: Share the outcomes or results of your actions. Quantify these results when possible to show the impact of your work. 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐀𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭: Determine what the interviewer is looking for in their question. Is it leadership, problem-solving skills, or teamwork? 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞: Select an example that best illustrates your ability in the context of the job you're applying for. Make sure it aligns with the key point identified. 𝐁𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞: Keep your story focused and relevant. Avoid unnecessary details that do not add value to your example. 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Can you describe a time when you had to manage a difficult project? 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: In my previous role as a project coordinator at X.Y.Z. Company, we faced a significant challenge when we were tasked with delivering a major project three months ahead of schedule due to a sudden market opportunity. 𝐓𝐚𝐬𝐤: My responsibility was to ensure the project team met the new deadline without compromising on quality. This involved re-evaluating our project plan and resources to identify any potential bottlenecks. 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: I organized a series of brainstorming sessions with the team to identify areas where we could save time. We decided to implement agile methodologies, which allowed for more flexible and iterative development. I also coordinated with our stakeholders to prioritize critical tasks and allocated additional resources to key areas. 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭: As a result of these efforts, we successfully delivered the project two weeks ahead of the new deadline. The early completion not only impressed our client but also resulted in a 15% increase in our contract value. Additionally, our team received recognition for our exceptional performance, which boosted morale and teamwork. 📌 Remember to practice your S.T.A.R. stories to ensure you can deliver them smoothly and confidently during interviews. #JobSearch #Hiring #Careers #Recruiting #JobOpening #NowHiring #Resume #JobTips #CareerAdvice #interviewtips #leadership #management #business #careeradvice #remotework #networking #learning #coaching #productivity #legal #healthcare #sales #engineering #realestate #biotech

𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡? Recently, a friend reached out to me out me to get advice about a situation in which she knew she was not being paid as much as her male counterpart who was in a similar position and had less experience with the company and less experience in the field of civil engineering. It can be difficult to navigate the complex negotiations it takes to ask for a raise at work. The way I see it, you have two options. 1. Ask for a raise 2. Change jobs. Here’s why. 👉 Generally, external hires are paid 15-20% more than internal promotions. -- HR compensation surveys tell us this. -- Countless anecdotes from others tell us this. -- HR recruiters tell us this. Hopefully, you will NOT need to change jobs to earn your value. But don't ever shortchange yourself on pay: 🌟 1. Don't take an internal promotion without a raise. (Hint: that isn't really a promotion). 🌟 2. If all you can get is a better title with no raise, then look to parlay that title into a new job with a different company. 🌟 3. Whatever you are offered for an internal promotion, negotiate for 5-10% more in salary or other non-monetary benefits. The money is there. 🌟 4. Don't ever consider a promotion a gift. If you’re the right person, you are a gift to them. 🌟 5. At some point to max out your comp, you may need to change organizations. 🌟 6. To really maximize your compensation in the long term, be geographically mobile and prepared to relocate. 👉 I'm sure you know this already. I'm just validating it. 📌 P.S. – if this was helpful, be sure to follow ATX Career Solutions LinkedIn page for more tips and tricks! #atxcareersolutions #careers #atxjobs #jobs #austinjobs #careers #usjobfinder #burnout #coaching #professionalresume #executivecoach #executivecoaching #vpcoaching #careerburnout #csuite #interviewtips #interviews #jobhunt #jobsearch #jobs #thankyou #jobalert, #nowhiring, #job, #gethired, #jobfair, #recruiting, #jobopening, #hiring, #joinourteam, #jobs, #jobhiring, #remotework, #jobsearching, #hire #resumewriting #resumewriter #resumetips #linkedintips #gettinghired #jobinterview #career #salary #linkedprofile #featured #linkedInprofilemakeover #jobtips #jobsearchtips #LinkedIn #interviewtips #interviewquestions #salarynegotiations #hiring, #joinourteam, #jobs, #jobhiring, #remotework, #jobsearching, #hire #resumewriting #resumewriter #resumetips #linkedintips #gettinghired #jobinterview #career #salary #linkedprofile #linkedInprofilemakeover #jobtips #jobsearchtips #LinkedIn #interviewtips #interviews

𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 Kenny Fellers 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐬 500-𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 I'm reaching out to share an incredible story of dedication and compassion. My older brother, Kenny Fellers, is participating in the Empire State Ride, cycling an astounding 500 miles across New York State to raise money for cancer research. Kenny's commitment to this cause is deeply personal for our family, as we've witnessed the devastating effects of cancer on our loved ones. Kenny has already raised an astonishing $13,536, but he needs just $1,464 more to reach his goal of $15,000. I'm immensely proud of his determination and the incredible effort he's put into this journey. His ride is not just a physical challenge but a powerful statement in support of those battling cancer and the quest for a cure. The funds Kenny raises will support the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, a leader in innovative cancer research and patient care. Every dollar donated brings us closer to breakthroughs that can save lives and offer hope to countless families affected by this relentless disease. I invite you to join us in supporting Kenny's mission. Your donation, no matter the size, will make a significant impact. Let's help Kenny reach his goal and contribute to a future where cancer is no longer a threat. Please visit Kenny's Fundraising Page to make a donation. Thank you for your generosity and support. Together, we can make a difference. (https://lnkd.in/gjyXSf3B) #endcancer #empirestateride #fundraising

𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔.𝐒. 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬: 𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 Employees in the U.S. have access to various leave benefits designed to protect their job security and support their well-being during significant life events or health issues. Here’s an overview of the key leave benefits, including any applicable waiting periods: 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭 (𝐅𝐌𝐋𝐀) The FMLA provides up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year for eligible employees. This can be used for serious health conditions, childbirth, adoption, or caring for a family member with a serious illness. 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: 12 months of work and 1,250 hours in the past year. 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐭 (𝐀𝐃𝐀) The ADA requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations, which may include leave, to employees with disabilities. 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Defined disability, no specific waiting period. 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭-𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐦 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐒𝐓𝐃) Short-Term Disability insurance provides partial income replacement for employees unable to work due to a non-work-related injury or illness. 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Elective benefit. aiting periods vary, typically 7-14 days. 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐦 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐋𝐓𝐃) Long-Term Disability insurance offers extended income replacement after STD benefits are exhausted, usually starting after 90 to 180 days of disability. 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Waiting periods depend on policy. 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭 (𝐀𝐂𝐀) Under the ACA, employees are entitled to health insurance benefits. While the ACA itself does not provide leave, it ensures employees have access to health coverage, which can be crucial during periods of extended leave. 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: 50+ employee companies, coverage after 90 days. 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 (𝐏𝐅𝐋) Some states offer Paid Family Leave, providing partial wage replacement for employees taking leave for family or medical reasons. 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Varies by state; e.g., California requires $300 in past year earnings with SDI deductions. 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 Under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), employees who are members of the uniformed services are entitled to leave for military duty and have the right to be reemployed upon return. 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: All military members, no waiting period. These federally protected leave benefits ensure employees can manage personal and family health issues without fearing job loss or severe financial hardship. #FMLA #ADA #USERRA #Careercoaching #management #federalbenefits #job #jobs #hiringnow #jobsearch #coach #networking #life #work #success #healthcare #tips #letswork #career #culture #hiring #careers #education #selfhelp #lessons #learning #lifechange #coaching #health #culture
