Before our first anniversary, Aurelius Cotta has been recognized in the 2024 Global Arbitration Review GAR100 amongst the world's leading law firms for international arbitration. https://lnkd.in/gSmVpF47 - Sabine Konrad, Maximilian Pika, Pierre Trippel, Tilman Koops, Friedrich Wächter
At Paris Arbitration Week with Tilman Koops - almost exactly 10 years after we were together in Hong Kong and Vienna for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. Excited that he and I could do and present here an empirical study on corruption issues in investment arbitration. Even more excited every day to have another old friend on the team at Aurelius Cotta. PS: We spare you the results of the study in this post - rather spend time with your friends. 😉
In 1904, the Institut de Droit International received the Nobel Prize for Peace “for its striving in public law to develop peaceful ties between nations and to make the laws of war more humane.” In 1911, Tobias Asser received the Nobel Prize for Peace for his role as the institute’s co-founder. Asser also played an important role in the establishment of the Permanent Court of Arbitration. In addition, The Nobel Prize for Peace was awarded no less than four times in relation to arbitration and its role in furthering peace (1901, 1903, 1909 and 1912). At Aurelius Cotta, we are proud of that tradition and happy to have supported the 150th Anniversary Session of the Institut de Droit International, taking place in Angers this week. The peaceful resolution of international disputes through arbitration is today more important than ever. #arbitratingforpeace #internationallaw #internationalarbitration
