About us

ASGO was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteer parents to better assist families of children and adults with autism in the Central Florida area. The mission or goal of the ASGO is that all individuals within the autism spectrum will be provided a lifetime network of opportunities to become fully accepted, included, and actively participating members of our community, through family support, education, and advocacy, and public awareness. We are primarily a volunteer organization. Most of the volunteers are parents that understand what it is like to live with autism on a daily basis. We do not know all of the answers and most of us are not professionals in the field. However, we are here to be of support to you and your family. ASGO is a not for profit 501(3)(c) organization. Our funds for dissemination of information, workshops, conference grants, social events, and more are derived from fund raising, private donations, ticket sales to events, and dues.

ASGO was the benefiting charity for the first annual Keepin It Real Autism Awareness Car Show at Island Wing Company in Hunters Creek on Saturday night. They had awesome cars, raffle, food, and drinks with all proceeds to ASGO. We love our community partners and coming together to raise funds and autism awareness!

  • OUR GRASSROOTS EFFORTS ARE WORKING!!!

Our grassroots effort to make autism awareness training for law enforcement officers mandatory in the state of Florida is working!!! Today, the Senate Judiciary Appropriations Committee passed SB 864 unanimously out of the committee. That means we are 2 down and just 1 to go. Now, we have to keep HB 829 moving along in its 2nd committee. Right now, we are waiting to see if it will make the agenda for the Justice Appropriation Committee's Agenda for this coming Tuesday. Since we have not gotten 100% confirmation that our bill (HB 829) is on it, we are going to ask that you start calling and emailing Representative Chuck Brannan immediately. Please let him know that we are asking for him to place HB 829 on the Justice Appropriation Committee's Agenda for Tuesday, 2/13/2024. Explain that the corresponding bill on the Senate side (SB 864) passed unanimously out of its second committee TODAY and is now heading to its final committee. We would like to see HB 829 continue to move through the committees so its on track with the Senate bill. Once on the agenda, we ask for his support! Contact Information: Rep. Chuck Brannan (chair) 850-717-5010 Chuck.Brannan@myfloridahouse.gov Jason.Carter@myfloridahouse.gov Quay.Neach@myfloridahouse.gov Please help us keep your kids (young and old) safe! Make that call/send that email now. Thank you!!

  • Thank you to our legislators who were able to take time out of their busy schedule to meet with us. NOTE: These are just a few of the pictures from yesterday!

We were able to speak to so many legislators during Autism Awareness Day at the Capital yesterday. We were advocating for mandatory training for all law enforcement officers in the state of Florida. The bill is progressing and we are hopeful that it will pass this legislative session.

ASGO's Autism Moms went to Tallahassee yesterday to advocate for mandatory autism awareness training for all officers in the state of Florida. We took our "kids" with us as you can see in the picture. It made a powerful impact at the Capital. We were able to speak to many representatives and senators to gain their support. We are looking forward to continued movement of the bill and eventual passage! What a powerful group of Moms!

ASGO is in need of a chicken tender/nugget donation for our Autism Walk & Family Fun Day on Saturday, March 30, 2024 inside the Orange County Convention Center's North Concourse. If you own/or work for a restaurant, would you please consider partnering with ASGO as a food donor? Individuals on the autism spectrum LOVE chicken tenders. We want to ensure we have some in our concession stand at our event. If you can assist, please email us at contact@asgo.org. We would greatly appreciate the support!
