Ever think, "If I knew then what I know now..."? Of course, you do! Looking for a job and hiring someone in this climate sucks right now. HOWEVER, it won’t be like this forever. This too shall pass, and when it does, who is in your network? When the hiring blitz happens, who do you know? There has never been a better time to fortify your relationships and build that "dream team" of contacts. With AI-generated garbage clogging my inbox by the minute and resumes that are written by bots (WTF is this all about anyway?), I have no idea what's real or fake anymore. Or do I…? What’s real? 1. Human connection! Now is the time to reach out via the old-fashioned phone, have a coffee, send a direct message on LinkedIn or whatever social media space you choose and have a real conversation! 2. My network! Its not “what”, its “who”. To quote my good friend, Adam R. Connors “A smart person knows everything. A wise person knows everybody.” When you need that clutch consultant, who will you call? When you need a great recruiter that’s battle tested, connected, honest, and transparent, (like the crew at Averity 😉 ) who is that? Build your “rolodex” with the best in breed. 3. Peer groups or clubs: Get in person with people that have similar interests and traits as you. Share your wins and losses as a person. Remember that you are a human being like the rest of us. We are not cyborgs (yet) and unless you’re that person who would rather have conversations with broken tech devices, get out there and TALK TO PEOPLE!! This is a walking nightmare for #CTO, #CFO, #HR, #jobseekers, and ANYONE #hiring. I'm sorry to tell all of you what's happening out there, but here it is. This is REAL off a company's FAQ. The company will remain classified. (Our system) applies you up to 200 jobs every month. FAQ's You fill out my job applications?! Yes. Just set up your profile and our advanced AI will fill out job applications for you! Our goal is to answer questions as good (if not better!) than you, with 100% accuracy. How do you know what jobs I’m interested in? Our powerful algorithm matches you with the best jobs. You can manually choose the jobs you get applied to, or turn on Autopilot to automate the process. Will employers know I'm using XXX to apply? No, they can’t detect that your application came through our system. Our system is designed to submit applications naturally, just as if you applied directly. Do you customize my resume and cover letter? Yes! We generate a custom resume and cover letter based on each job description, and you can preview it before it’s sent. Are you F***ing kidding me?!?! A client of mine was getting one application every minute, to the point where they stopped reviewing them and just called me to take over. Averity had to stop running ads because of this. For example, a Python/GO Engineering role required reviewing 650 resumes, consuming 94 hours of work over 26 days just to shortlist five candidates for interviews. This task, when done manually, takes extensive time and effort. Cost of DIY Hiring: Attempting to handle the hiring process internally is both time-consuming and costly. Based on the hypothetical salary of a VP of Engineering, $89,322.92 could be "spent" on self-managing the recruitment process for seven roles. Turnover creates jobs, growth, opportunity, and innovation! No turnover = stagnation. Once the great turnover wave hits, look out!
Did you know before 2023, the average voluntary turnover in the tech space was just over 33%? According to various sources, from 2023-2024, we've seen voluntary turnover in tech drop to less than 7%. Many, including Guy Berger, Ph.D., a brilliant economist, call this the "Great Stay"; But 43% of employed Principal Engineers are actively looking! Turnover creates jobs, personal growth, innovation, and opportunity while keeping things fresh. The bottom line is that we need turnover in the market. I performed this search on LinkedIn Recruiter and returned 775 people. The scary number is the 343 "Open to Work" (screenshots attached). That's over 44%! Just because your Principal Engineer is still working, doesn't mean they're happy. We can make a lasting impression because you're a human and you care, or you get forwarded to a SPAM folder. Think about this: you will either end up in a SPAM folder or a blocked number "do not call" list, or you have the opportunity to make an impression. One of this morning's now SPAM: "Hey Chris, I see you know Greenville - ever get stuck behind a moped?" I've never seen a moped in Greenville anywhere. That email is in SPAM and will never get an opportunity to communicate with me ever again. Leave Artificial where it belongs.
