Direct Air Capture (DAC) is a step towards addressing climate change by extracting carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere. Unlike conventional methods that prevent emissions or rely on natural ecosystems for carbon absorption, DAC deploys technology to capture the CO2 that has already been released into the atmosphere. Hence, it gives access to an abundant carbon source that is suitable for fuel production and thus for a circular carbon economy. As one of the sectors with significant carbon emissions, aviation can greatly benefit from DAC in the longer run by expanding the supply of synthetic aviation fuel with a low carbon footprint.
