In the early days of Aviation Partners this core group was known internally as “the dream team.”

A piece of early Blended Winglet history from our President
Over the years Aviation Partners Blended Winglets for business jets have been manufactured by some powerhouses in the world of aerospace structures, including NORDAM, Ducommun Incorporated, and FACC AG. But do you know where our very first set of prototype Blended Winglets were made? I thought about making this post a pop quiz, but quickly realized the likelihood anyone would know the answer was slim. If, however, you’ve read the book, or seen the movie, “The Boys in the Boat”, you are already familiar with the founder of the company, George. In the very beginning (early 1990s), when we needed someone to build the first pair of proof-of-concept Blended Winglets to conduct experimental flight tests (for the purpose of measuring cruise drag) on a Gulfstream II, we turned to a local company whose storied history goes back to 1911 - Pocock Racing Shells. So there you have it... just like our Seattle neighbors, Boeing, we also have a historic connection to boat builders. #WingletWednesday #ThinkWinglets #AviationHistory
