On Friday, USCAR (United States Council for Automotive Research) visited AVL's Ann Arbor Technical Center in Michigan. 🚘☑ Our team led the group through the facility's New Energy Lab, including a behind-the-scenes look through some of the test cells on site. Lee Knoll, Director of Operations, showcased the features and benefits of our powertrain testbed, which is used to test and benchmark vehicles for USCAR and numerous other OEMs from around the world. A few members of our Vehicle Development team, Jennifer Durfy and Alan Bedewi, highlighted AVL's Global Vehicle Benchmarking Program and some of the data being collected on the Toyota BZ4X currently installed on the powertrain testbed. Thank you again to USCAR and the team that stopped by last week! 👏👏

Improving The Calibration of Battery Management Systems (BMS) by Using More Efficient and Economical Simulation Models #WEBINAR 🗓 Wednesday 17-July ⏰ 6pm(CET) 12pm(EST) 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dHnS3TAt *Can't attend the session live? Register anyway, and we'll send you a link to the slides and a recording of the webinar once it's finished. "Advancing BMS Calibration With Faster, Cost-Effective Battery Simulation Models" refers to improving the calibration of Battery Management Systems (BMS) by using more efficient and economical simulation models. Here's a breakdown of the key concepts we will be discussing: ➡️ Battery Management Systems (BMS) > Keeping track of battery parameters such as voltage, current, temperature, and state of charge (SOC). > Ensuring uniform charge distribution among all cells in a battery pack. > Preventing conditions like overcharging, deep discharging, and overheating. > Providing status updates and diagnostics to other vehicle systems. ➡️ Calibration > Enhancing the precision of battery monitoring and reporting. > Improving the efficiency of battery usage and longevity. > Ensuring all protective measures are accurately set to avoid hazards. ➡️ Simulation Models > Accurately simulate real-world conditions that a battery will experience. > Provide rapid results compared to physical testing. > Lower the expenses associated with physical prototypes and testing. ➡️ Faster, Cost-Effective Simulation Models > Deliver quicker results, allowing for rapid iteration and development. > Reduce the need for costly physical tests and prototypes. > Easily scaled to test different scenarios and configurations. ➡️ Application > More precise calibration of the BMS, leading to better battery performance and safety. > Faster development cycles for new batteries and BMS technologies. > Cost savings in the development and testing phases, making the technology more accessible and affordable. This approach is crucial for the development of next-generation batteries and BMS, especially in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle industry. By leveraging advanced simulation models, companies can achieve significant improvements in battery performance, safety, and cost-efficiency, driving the future of sustainable energy solutions. ⚡️ Don't Miss Out!
