⭐️ 5 key takeaways from the Verizon Business 2024 Mobile Security Index (MSI): 1. 𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐨𝐓 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 — 95% actively use them and 80% believe they are critical for business operations. 2. 𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 — and in 2023, up to a third of them were successful. 3. 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 = 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤 — just 3% of devices have a disabled lock screen, but 25% of companies have at least one employee who does this. 4. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐥 — 37% of employees admit flouting company policies about using public wifi. 5. The US National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC), the Office of Economic Security and Emerging Technology (OESET), and naval and air force special units recently issued a joint statement warning U.S. tech startups that they're at enhanced risk from foreign state actors looking to exfiltrate state secrets, IP, and other data.
