With our youth and young adult experts, we are continuously developing our New Deal to End Youth Homelessness, 2023 Federal Policy Agenda, State of the Movement events, Grand Challenge, and other innovations to shift nonprofit cultures to center young lived expertise. This #VeteransDay, we honor those who’ve served—and acknowledge a heartbreaking reality: many veterans, including young people with few resources, face homelessness after service. The recent Point-in-Time (PIT) count reveals over 35,000 veterans are without safe, stable housing—a 7% increase from last year. At A Way Home America, we’re committed to ending youth homelessness, paving the way toward housing justice for all. Together, we can transform public policy systems to end homelessness 🏠💙  #EndYouthHomelessness #VeteransDay #HousingJustice

🍂November is a month of observances that resonate deeply with our mission to transform systems through public policy to prevent and end homelessness for Black, Indigenous, youth of color, and LGBTQIA+ youth, on a path to housing justice for all. This #NationalChildCaregiversMonth, we honor young caregivers stepping up for community, family, and friends; during #ChildSafetyProtectionMonth, we’re reminded of the essential safety and support systems every young person deserves; and for #NationalAdoptionMonth, we spotlight the importance of family, belonging, and the right to stable housing for all youth. Together, let’s build a future where every young person has a place to call home. 🏠 #HousingJustice #AWayHomeAmerica #YouthHomelessness 🍁For more information on how we work to transform systems of child and family well-being, visit our New Deal to End Youth Homelessness at AWayHomeAmerica.info #endyouthhomelessness #awhanewdeal #homelessyouth #housingisahumanright

Our work must continue, so we’re rolling out something new!  Through our new pilot project, The New Deal: Transforming the Way Home (TWH), A Way Home America (AWHA) is interested in authentically partnering with local communities who are passionate about transforming systems through youth organizing and public policy at a state and local level, to end homelessness for Black, Indigenous, youth of color, and LGBTQ+ youth, on a path to housing justice for all. Over five years, TWH will support 3 communities across the United States to develop transformative direct action policy campaigns aimed at moving the needle closer to ending and preventing youth homelessness across the country. Selected communities will receive financial support and the option to select from a menu of resources to build organizational capacity to achieve their state and local policy goals. ✨The Pilot Project The TWH pilot project will meet community organizations where they are and support them resources to either: 1) continue their transformative campaigns or 2) empower them to develop state and/or local transformative policy campaigns that use organizing strategies to win.  AWHA’s Organizing and Policy Director will support each TWH community to complete a SWOT+ G analysis, develop SMART goals, and brainstorm 6–12month campaign timelines.  In addition, there will 2 be evaluation and reflection points for each year of the pilot project to Strengthening campaign work and make adjustments based on local conditions and campaign trajectory. #awha #endyouthhomlessness #communityorganizing #transformingthewayhome
