The EPA has proposed significant updates to the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) by adding 16 specific PFAS and 15 PFAS categories, representing over 100 PFAS compounds, to address environmental and health concerns. This rule would classify PFAS as chemicals of special concern, setting a strict 100-pound reporting threshold and requiring disclosures even at low concentrations. Why is this important? These proposed changes aim to hold facilities accountable for PFAS linked to serious health risks, including cancer and organ damage. The updates also close gaps by grouping similar PFAS for combined reporting, improving transparency in industries handling these substances. Contaminated soil comes with the territory in NY, NJ and PA. Most building sites in the East have had many different occupants over the decades which means decades of changing environmental regulations. Our consultants trust our site remediation expertise to review their soil assessments and then turn around and safely excavate, transport, and dispose of the contaminated soil and materials. When selecting a contractor, many companies lean towards the biggest names, assuming they’re the safest option. Others might opt for the lowest bid, hoping for the best outcome. Our advice? Go beyond the surface. While a contractor’s capabilities and equipment are easy to spot in a sales pitch or on a website, it’s their financial strength, agility, and depth that truly drive success in the field.
