At one of our Layne's Chicken Fingers locations, we recently had a meaningful experience that truly highlighted the power of hospitality and company culture. As franchisees, we make it a point to consistently connect with our team members to better understand their experiences and improve our operations. During one of these visits earlier this month, we spoke with a dedicated drive-up window team member who shared her passion for hospitality. She mentioned that she recognizes customers by their voices at the menu board and greets them by name, making them feel like family. One couple in particular—a senior pair who visits twice a week—simply says, "Hey, it’s us" when they arrive. The team member instantly knows who they are, greets them by name, and ensures their order is just how they like it, down to adjusting the salt on their fries based on past requests. This thoughtful gesture undoubtedly makes these guests feel special and cared for. This story reminded us of a powerful quote from Will Guidara’s book "Unreasonable Hospitality": "The moment you start to pursue service through the lens of hospitality, you start to understand there's nobility in it." This team member truly embodies that sense of nobility through her genuine care for our guests. It also brought to mind Peter Drucker's famous saying: "Culture eats strategy for breakfast." Fostering a positive work culture and treating your team with respect are the foundation of business success. September was a busy month for celebrating our team’s birthdays and anniversaries. We are fortunate, at AYG Foods, to have some of the most dedicated team members in the industry. Excuse us if we want to brag a little bit... On Monday, July 8, Hurricane Beryl came ashore in Texas and made her way to Houston. On that day, millions of Houstonian's lost power including many of our team members. One of our Halal Guys stores - in the Westchase District of Houston - was without power for 28 days... 28. What happened next was simply amazing and awe inspiring. When we reopened, our team returned to work. So, in the 4th largest city in the United States, and one of the top five competitive restaurant markets in the country, our team came BACK. There are no words to express our gratitude to this phenomenal team and the leaders that cultivate a culture of compassion, commitment, and customer service. What does teamwork mean to you? For us it means our store leaders gathering after the effects of Hurricane Beryl, and supporting each other and our community. It means accepting each other, even when "someone" wears a Rangers jersey 😀. Teamwork IS one of our core values...
