So much love for all the friends who came out to see Mark & Allyse from Azura Literacy at yesterday's City of Mesa Together in Service conference. The direct link between poverty and literacy cannot be denied. Thanks to our community partners for helping us fight the good fight for Arizona's children.

Approximately 2,000 foster & kinship children will be served at Helen's Hope Chest this winter. TWO. THOUSAND. CHILDREN. They need your help - volunteer, donate, check out their Amazon wishlist, or simply "like"/follow/re-post. The team interviewed foster kids to see what they wished for most this holiday season...see below. Go roll your sleeves up at the Hope Chest this year! 💝

    Non-Profit Co-Director | Trauma Informed Care | Aged-Out Foster Youth

Today Sommer Knight and I were recognized by the AZ Capitol Times as Non-Profit Leaders of the Year. We both know the work we do has nothing to do with us and everything to do with the people we are serving. So being awarded doesn’t really cross our mind ,but boy, are we grateful! I don’t remember where I heard this but I believe it with all my heart. “You can find God in the most dire situations.” Our goal is to create positive change but it starts with being with people in their time of need. Aged Out Foster individuals have faced the most horrible situations by the very people who should love them most. It can be difficult and is not for the faint of heart but it also allows us to see beautiful miracles and transformations. While it can be difficult to fundraise and run a successful program. None of it would be possible without the amazing people and organizations who have the heart to give, or the dozens of volunteers who truly lift our program. So we do get to see and hear about the worst of humanity, but we also get to see the best of it. Sommer Knight and I know, we are exactly where we are meant to be. #Foster360AZ #AZCapitolTimes #SommerKnight

Azura Literacy 😍's you, Cox Communications! We are truly honored to be included in the group of 125 incredible changemaker organizations selected to receive funding as part of the whopping $698,500 in total donated by the team at Cox Charities. Childhood illiteracy creates a merciless cycle of poverty by destroying opportunities for education, employment, & success. This is unacceptable to us. Cox is helping us ensure children from low-income families across Arizona get a better shot at a bright future.

Do small things with great love 💕

I am so proud of my colleagues at Helen's Hope Chest. If you don't know what they do, prepare to be impressed. This team has created the most magical department store-like "shopping" experience for their little foster & kinship care kiddo clients. The idea is that kids in the child welfare system get to pick out adorable clothes (& shoes, backpacks, necessities, EVERYTHING) that *they* choose for themselves, give them back some confidence, & let them know they are deeply cared for, especially when they're lonely & scared. Helen's staff helping kids pick out clothes is the actual sweetest, most heartstring-pulling thing I've ever seen. 💖 Go check them out - they'd love to give you a tour! (Check out Director, Janice, and her little buddy singing a song called "The Morning Song" which is sure to be a smash hit. ***Video shared with permission.)
