Advocating for change and staying engaged during election season can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be mentally and emotionally draining—especially when balancing a full-time job, working with people who may have differing opinions, or literally just…life. Remember, to make the biggest impact, you need to take care of yourself along the way. Here are some tips for staying energized and grounded while doing the work: 🌿Set Boundaries Whether it’s limiting your time on social media or carving out specific periods to work on advocacy efforts, setting boundaries can help you manage your energy and prevent burnout. You don’t have to engage every second of the day to make a difference. 🧘♀️Take Breaks to Recharge Step away when you need to. Take time to go for a walk, meditate, or simply take a breather to reset your mind and body. Regular breaks can actually improve focus and productivity. Logging off and checking out is always an option. Just remember to come back when you’re ready! 👥Lean on Your Community Remember, you don’t have to carry this work alone. Lean on colleagues, friends, or your broader community for support. Collaborating and sharing responsibilities can lighten the load and give you a chance to recharge while others step in. 💡Focus on What You Can Control Election season can feel overwhelming, especially with differing opinions. Focus on what’s within your control: how you show up, how you engage, and how you take care of yourself in the process. You don’t have to change every mind—just make sure you’re taking care of yours and let everything else rest. Prioritizing your mental health is just as important as showing up to vote. When you take care of yourself, you’re better prepared to continue the work that matters. Remember, the work doesn’t end on Election Day, so let’s pace ourselves to avoid burnout. You got this bestie! #MentalHealthMatters #TakeABreak #BTheChange

Voting is one of the most powerful ways we can shape the future of our communities, businesses, and the world. But for too many, barriers to voting—especially in historically marginalized communities—make it difficult to exercise this right. As B Corps, it’s our responsibility to ensure all voices are heard and protected. Here’s what you need to know about protecting your vote and the votes of those around you: 🚨Know Your Rights at the Polls Every voter has the right to: • Cast a ballot, even if their name isn’t on the voter list (request a provisional ballot if necessary). • Ask for help if they need assistance reading or understanding the ballot. • Vote even if the polls are about to close and they’re still in line—if you’re in line, you have the right to vote! 💼What Employers Can Do: • Inform employees about their voting rights and provide clear resources, especially for those in marginalized communities who may face extra challenges at the polls. • Offer legal resources or hotlines (like the ACLU's voter protection hotline) that employees can call if they face suppression. 🌍 Historically Marginalized Communities Are Targeted More—Here’s How We Can Protect Ourselves: Voter suppression disproportionately impacts Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC), LGBTQ+, low-income, and immigrant communities. Knowing what to look for is the first step in protecting your right to vote: • Voter ID laws: Make sure you know what ID is required in your state. If you don’t have one, ask for a provisional ballot and follow up to ensure it’s counted. • Language barriers: If you need help understanding the ballot in your language, ask for assistance at the polls. • Intimidation: If you experience intimidation or harassment at the polls, report it immediately to election officials or call a voter protection hotline. 🛡️What to Do If Your Rights Are Challenged: • Request a provisional ballot: If you’re denied the chance to vote, request a provisional ballot and make sure your vote is counted after Election Day. • Call for help: The ACLU and other organizations offer voter protection hotlines you can call if you face voter suppression or intimidation. • Document everything: Take note of names, locations, and what happened if you experience suppression. This helps legal teams act quickly. 🗓️What Happens After Election Day? The work doesn’t end when the polls close. Here’s what to expect: • Provisional ballots are reviewed: If you voted using a provisional ballot, follow up with your local election office to ensure it’s counted. • Stay engaged: Continue to advocate for voter protection and support organizations that are fighting voter suppression year-round. Your vote is your voice. For more resources on how to protect your vote visit: https://lnkd.in/g3R7GKd5 #VoterProtection #KnowYourRights #BTheChange

What happens when a company like OpenAI—now worth as much as Goldman Sachs—shifts from nonprofit to for-profit? Can it still uphold its mission to "benefit all of humanity," or will profits take precedence over purpose? In his recent op-ed for The New York Times, Andrew Kassoy, co-founder and co-chair of B Lab Global, explores the challenges ahead for OpenAI, why becoming a public #benefitcorporation is just the first step in holding AI companies accountable to society, workers, and the planet—and why OpenAI needs more than good intentions to fulfill its potential for positive impact. From setting rigorous standards for transparency to drawing lessons from purpose-driven companies like Patagonia, Andrew lays out how OpenAI could lead the way in ethical AI—but only if it commits to real accountability. "Every day, by applying these same principles, thousands of certified #BCorps show that business can be a force for good to create high-quality jobs, rebuild strong communities and solve environmental crises — all while making money for investors. Surely OpenAI, with its ingenuity and newfound resources, can match their efforts." — Andrew Kassoy. 📰 Read the full op-ed here: https://nyti.ms/3Yn22yz #ArtificialIntelligence #AIEthics #OpenAI #BCorp #Sustainability B Lab UK B Lab U.S. & Canada B Lab Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand B Lab Africa B Lab Europe Sistema B

As we near Election Day, the stakes couldn’t be higher for businesses, communities, and individuals alike. The decisions made at the ballot box will directly impact not only our personal lives but also the future of our businesses and the planet. 🌍 For B Corps, voting with intention means standing up for the issues that shape a more inclusive and equitable economy. Here are some of the key issues at stake this election season and how they relate to the work we do: 🚨Reproductive Rights & Freedom Access to reproductive healthcare and freedom of choice affect employees’ well-being and the workforce as a whole. Businesses thrive when employees are healthy and supported in making decisions about their bodies. 🌈LGBTQ+ Rights Inclusive workplaces are core to B Corp values, and protecting the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals ensures that all employees can bring their full selves to work. Policies that discriminate against LGBTQ+ communities hurt both individuals and the businesses that employ them. 🌎Climate Policy With environmental stewardship at the heart of the B Corp movement, climate policy is a business issue. The decisions we make today about energy, sustainability, and environmental protections will impact the future of our planet and economy. Businesses have a responsibility to advocate for a livable future. 🛑 Immigrants’ Rights Immigration policies affect both the workforce and the diversity of talent within companies. B Corps value inclusivity, and supporting the rights of immigrants helps build stronger, more resilient communities and businesses. ⚖️ Criminal Justice Reform Policies around criminal justice reform directly affect the ability of formerly incarcerated individuals to re-enter the workforce. Fair-chance hiring practices can only thrive if the system is reformed to allow for equitable opportunities for all. 💼Labor Laws Fair wages, worker protections, and labor rights are crucial to building businesses that benefit everyone. B Corps are already leading the way, and progressive labor laws ensure a fair and sustainable economy for all. 📉Economic Policy for Small & Medium Businesses Taxes, access to capital, and small business protections are on the line. Supporting policies that uplift small and medium businesses helps strengthen local economies, creates jobs, and fosters innovation. Here’s what B Corps can do to get ready: 💼Employers: • Share resources that explain how these issues affect your business and employees. • Host conversations or share content that helps employees understand the impact of their vote. 🙋♀️Employees: • Stay informed on how the issues that matter most to you are reflected on the ballot. • Take time to research where candidates stand on these key topics that impact your workplace and community.
