Opportunity Alert 🚨 🚨 🚨 The story a company (or a person) tells isn’t about a skill or product; it’s about who they are and what they value. That story can either earn you confidence and trust, or a swipe into the trash. Remember, telling a good story is only half of the challenge. You have to be sure to connect and tell the story your audience needs to hear. If your opening lines sound something like: “We were founded in 2015 by our three founders who wanted to have an impact in their community…” Then it’s time to up your game. Join Jill Pollack and Nancy Goldstein for a unique story workshop on August 14, 2024 at 5:30pm. This will be a fast, entertaining, and useful dive into the why, how, which, and craft of using stories at work. This workshop will teach you to think differently about how you craft a narrative to tell your company's story or describe the vision for a project. We’ll look at some of the most potent elements of story craft and how to apply them to a pitch, proposal, presentation, and pretty much anything you communicate at work. Such a pleasure being with the B Local Illinois community last night to hear from Christopher Marquis about how we can truly make impact in business. Big shoutout for Armanino LLP for being our hosts!

Professor at Cambridge. Author of “THE PROFITEERS: How Business Privatizes Profit and Socializes Cost”; "MAO AND MARKETS” (a FT Best Book of 2022); "BETTER BUSINESS: How the B Corp Movement is Remaking Capitalism"

Was great to join Adrian Gershom at the Armanino LLP offices in #Chicago last night for a public discussion of #TheProfiteers! I very much enjoyed the discussion and also networking before and after. Thanks to all who attended! I am particularly grateful to B Local Illinois for organizing the event and especially Adrian, Emily Taub, Emily Wielbik, and Shilpa Gadhok for their efforts. And thanks too to Tim Frick for all of your work in Chicago over the years, you were missed! I also appreciate Armanino opening their offices for the event and sponsoring the refreshments and delicious taco/nacho bar. It was also great to learn more about the company from Annie Evans and Anna Brockway, particularly all the ways they focus on their people.
