We’re always happy to engage with the next generation of banking leaders! Thank you for a good movie and an even better discussion!
The Commercial Banking Initiative was pleased to present our Financial Crisis Movie Night feature, "The Big Short" to a group of finance students and their guests. "I like showing this film to our students because, while it is entertaining and full of stars, it also teaches valuable lessons about financial markets, the importance of research, and the benefits of questioning conventional wisdom," said Brian Andrews, CMB®, Executive Director of the Commercial Banking Initiative. The students were treated to industry commentary by Craig Livingston, Senior Vice President and Commercial Banking Director at b1BANK, the presenting partner for the evening. "As an LSU Alum (Management '92), I'm proud to have the opportunity to interact with students and try to pass on anything that may benefit them as they prepare to start their careers. I'm also proud to represent B1Bank and thank them for recognizing the opportunity to be involved at the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business and our future business leaders there," said Livingston, adding "Movie Night gives a unique venue to discuss important topics in a more casual atmosphere. The Big Short is not only an entertaining film but does a great job illustrating an event that impacted the banking and finance industry more than any other event in my 25-year career and its effects are still being felt today." Thank you to Craig Livingston, Braden Whatley of b1BANK who also attended the event, and to all our friends at b1BANK for supporting our students, inside and outside the classroom. The next Movie Night will be held on November 13th and will feature another great movie that entertains while illustrating important financial concepts.
