Thank you to St.Edward's University 🐐 and Peter Beilharz for having the Backpack team at Orientation last week ! Was unreal to speak to so many students and their families about their 529s. Perhaps unsurprisingly everyone loved the “Call your Mom” ☎️totes although we like to think they stayed for the riveting 529 discussion 😏. Was also fantastic to see how many of the students themselves were actively involved in managing their 529, and how excited they were that Backpack 🎒 now gives them a way out of using physical checks! Backpack is a payments technology company building the first API driven payments gateway for 529 College Savings Plans. 529 is a fantastic program that is currently heavily underutilized because of the anxiety student families feel when interacting with it. We have heard loud and clear that this anxiety is caused by a lack of helpful infrastructure to facilitate payments and expense tracking. Everything we build is designed to shift the burden off of our student families, allowing them to focus on what matters most - their education.
