🌏 Great discussions on the ground at BAFT (Bankers Association for Finance and Trade) conference in #Amsterdam this week. One thing that really stood out to me – everyone acknowledges that industry collaboration is essential, as payments are evolving rapidly. But what stood out to me at the event? Three things ⬇️ 1️⃣ The adoption of real-time payments is accelerating but a common question was whether real-time was really needed or whether security and certainty are more important factors 2️⃣ Payment instructions using the ISO20022 standard are not as high as expected but it appears a lot of banks are planning a big push in the coming months to ensure the November CBPR+ deadline is met 3️⃣ As expected, AI featured throughout the sessions and whilst the opportunities it provides for payments are exciting, it must be adopted and used responsibly in order to protect its users Always great to connect with passionate professionals in the industry. A fun and interesting topic on Bridging the Generational Gap at BAFT (Bankers Association for Finance and Trade) European Bank to Bank forum in Amsterdam yesterday. There is a lot to discuss in the world of trade given the complexities globally but good to hear some insight on changes in culture within the industry from a seasoned and experienced banker and the next gen. Culture, value and reward will always be important. Global Finance Magazine held its 25th annual trade finance awards at the closing luncheon, an excellent afternoon and very well organized event and discussions over the few days. Thanks to Arlene S. and the whole team.

What a brilliant few days at this year’s BAFT (Bankers Association for Finance and Trade) Bank-to-Bank Forum in Amsterdam.   Matt Burns, Oonagh McGrane and Rita King took to the stage to share their knowledge on topics such as client payment journeys, the commercialisation of data insights, and driving innovation and financial inclusion in transaction banking. The wider team also managed to squeeze in circa 30 meetings, catching up with a number of valued clients and partners from across Europe. Until next year!

Baft (Bankers Association for Finance and Trade) has issued an updated version of its English law standard for trade loans to reflect “significant developments” in the market and regulatory landscape. “Standardising documentation to make trade transactions more ‘user friendly’ is foundational to our purpose,” says Craig Weeks, senior vice-president at Baft.
