Book recommendations from family business owner Brad Dunn !
Family Business is not easy... That is why it is important to seek out wise counsel and wisdom along the way..... 👇 On the 𝐋𝐄𝐅𝐓 is some of the best stuff I have come across written about the complexities of when Family and Business intersect. The book on the 𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 would be the output if all of this information was carefully extracted and put into SUPER-CONCENTRATED form. If you are a family business owner seriously contemplating future succession David Bork's 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐿𝑖𝑡𝑡𝑙𝑒 𝑅𝑒𝑑 𝐵𝑜𝑜𝑘 𝑜𝑓 𝐹𝑎𝑚𝑖𝑙𝑦 𝐵𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑠 is the most clear and concise guidance out there to start. Like David writes this is 'A Little Book, not a Big One' and is great for generating ideas before a deep dive. Don't let the $12 get in the way of starting on a path to intentionally improve the likelihood of success. Send me a message with your name and address and I will send you a copy! Don’t make it any harder than it has to be…. Family Business Magazine Family Business United The Family Business Consulting Group, Inc. (FBCG) Family Business Awards Family.Inc

What a wonderful time was had yesterday at our first event in Northern Colorado! We all were lucky to learn from founders and successors about successful family business transitions at OtterBox , Shirazi & Associates, and Walker Mowers. It’s always powerful to see the conversations between people who share the same desire to help their family thrive through a shared enterprise, sharing hard won lessons and support. This was a beautiful partnership between The Transition Strategists and Bailey Program for Family Enterprise at DU. We look forward to having more awesome programs in the Greeley/Windsor/Fort Collins/Loveland area!

We are still riding the wave of energy generated at our dinner last week--the largest event we've held, at 90 people! There was great time to connect; we learned from Family Enterprise USA about the latest advocacy efforts and data about family enterprises; a great discussion between Ginni Galicinao and Scott Peppet on his leadership insights from marrying in to and becoming president of Sam Zell's family office. We loved the added sweet presence of children and will seek to integrate all generations more in our programming! Thanks to our strategic partner PNC Private Bank, and sponsors Nilsine Partners, Positively People, LLC, GHP Investment Advisors, Inc., Wintrust Financial Corporation and our media partner Denver Business Journal. Thanks to our new Dean of University of Denver - Daniels College of Business, Naomi Boyd for participating. We will carry this momentum into our three upcoming Roundtables and two-day workshops! In my almost two years as director of the Bailey Program for Family Enterprise at DU the theme I've heard over and over again from families is how much they want their children to feel LOVE, and to develop their own PURPOSE and GRIT. Whether or not the rising generation leads in the family enterprise, we want it to be a blessing for them and look honestly at any shadow it might cast. I asked Kristin Keffeler, MSM, MAPP to offer this unique event to our community to help answer this need, and because I know through her teaching and books that she has amazing lived experience and skills on this topic of empowering the rising generation. Join us on December 4th if this topic is near and dear to your heart for all the young people in your life.
