Eligible participants in DACA and other special programs such as Parole in Place and Temporary Protected Status are granted limited privileges while residing in the U.S. and are recognized as having either quasi or fragile immigration status. These classifications are particularly vulnerable to immigration policy shifts depending on the election outcome. In Episode 92, BAL’s Kelli Duehning provides recent updates about these two different statuses and what to anticipate with a change in administration. 🔦 Sponsorship Spotlight Alert! 🔦 This week, we are featuring BAL for our Potomac Sponsorship Spotlight…read along to learn more about their services, as well as GWERC members Tiffany Derentz, Senior Counsel and Eileen Lohmann, Senior Associate. Q: Can you tell us a bit more about your company and how you support mobility? BAL is a corporate immigration law firm with over 40 years of experience. Our firm partners with mobility program leaders to ensure foreign talent gets to the right place at the right time by navigating the complexities of immigration law and maintaining compliance. We are proud to power human achievement through immigration expertise, people-centered client services and innovative technology, all through our collaborative oneBAL approach. Q: What do you love about the mobility industry? At BAL, we always talk about the incredible opportunity we have to power human achievement, even if we only play a small role in a person’s transition. By collaborating with mobility leaders and partners to relocate extraordinarily intelligent and talented individuals from all over the world, we’re contributing to impactful changes in medicine, technology and more. Q: Why did you choose to support GWERC? The mobility industry is full of passionate professionals who truly care about the work they do and are constantly seeking to raise the bar in relocation standards. GWERC gives me the ability to connect with these great people, gain insights from their experiences and work together to make a positive difference in the mobility industry. Q: Tell us one fact about you that we can share with the GWERC community? Tiffany: Before joining BAL, I worked at the Department of State in the Visa Office. On one of many temporary assignments serving as a consular officer overseas, I got to assist in the planning of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics! It was an incredible experience and gets me even more excited for the Olympics every two years. Eileen: I have worked in corporate immigration during three presidential administrations and have seen how quickly policies can change. I am motivated by the opportunity to help people prepare and adapt in this constantly evolving field. Thank you to Tiffany, Eileen and the entire BAL team for your support of GWERC this year! We are so grateful for you!
