The Ballard Alliance team enjoyed co-hosting the Ballard Commons summer park events with our friends at Seattle Parks and Recreation. As we wrap up this year's series, we have already started planning park activation events for 2025. As a part of a pilot beautification project, we introduced planter globes at the intersection of Market Street, 22nd Avenue, and Leary Avenue to enhance our streets with vibrant flowers and greenery. These self-watering planters will be in full bloom for summer and will remain in place until early fall—come see them while you can! While this project is currently in its pilot phase, our aim is to extend this beautification effort to further enrich Ballard. Sponsorship opportunities will also be available soon to support this initiative. Special thanks to Wren Wilson for leading this effort, and to Kristie Kisbye, owner of Annie’s Art and Frame, for helping with plant identification and design.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Breakfast in Ballard event on May 16th! For this event, we partnered with Uplift Northwest to highlight their incredible work in the Puget Sound Region and here in Ballard. For over 100 years, Uplift NW has transformed lives through employment and job readiness programs for those experiencing homelessness or living below the poverty line. We are proud to collaborate with organizations like Uplift NW to keep our neighborhood clean, while amplifying access to long-term, living wage jobs. Thank you to Adrienne Whitmore and Keenan McCracken for presenting on Uplift's mission and four pillars of service: gainful employment, dignified housing, education and certifications, and support services. Another thanks to Sophie Iannone, the Ballard Alliance Economic Development and Research Manager, for leading the Breakfast in Ballard program!

Another successful #OneSeattle Day of Service in the books! This year, we worked to beautify Ballard by creating a community-painted mural on the panels of the kiosk at Bergen Place Park. We also performed litter and graffiti abatement throughout the neighborhood. Despite the rain, we had over 25 volunteers come out! We couldn't have done it without Tori Shao, PLA who created the mural concept and stencil; Cole Palea with NOVO Painting & Property Services, who supplied the paint for the mural; Max Genereaux, who replaced the boards and plexiglass on the kiosk; Mayor Harrell's office for planning the event and providing supplies, and the Ballard Public Art Committee for their ongoing support and guidance. A special shoutout to our team members, Wren Wilson and Wyatt Hoffman for taking the lead on this project. Finally, a huge thank you to our engaged and passionate community members for showing up and making a difference!
