Banker Steel recently had the privilege of being a title sponsor for AECOM Hunt’s Charity Golf Outing in Indianapolis. The event raised an astounding $40,000 to benefit the Assistance League of Indianapolis. Several of our team members were able to be present at the tournament to support this great cause, and our own Dewayne Minnick shared a bit about Banker Steel’s passion for making a difference in our communities. #giveback #community #steelconstruction https://lnkd.in/eNYwEKvd

At one time we had 4 internal climbing tower cranes running simultaneously at 270 Park Avenue, each hungry for the next pick. Having fabricated and erected 94,000 tons of structural steel safely and on schedule, we recently demobilized our last crane at the JPMorgan Chase headquarters. The opportunity to construct this incredible building has been an unforgettable experience. NYC Constructors Learn more about our internal climbing tower crane: https://lnkd.in/eCxxQVw6

The transformation of John F. Kennedy International Airport was featured as ENR’s cover story last week. Between public and private financing, the project is being funded by nearly $19 billion to achieve the The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey's stated goal of ‘making New York and New Jersey airports among the best in the world with a sense of place focused on New York’ while also reflecting the diversity of Queens through minority & women-owned business representation for the build. Banker Steel is fabricating and erecting 50,000 tons of structural steel for the construction project together with NYC Constructors. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gEvdjVkb

ENR's August 12 cover story delves into the most comprehensive revamp ever of a U.S. airport — the $19-billion transformation of John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. While the $9.5-billion New Terminal One is the crown jewel of the makeover, a $4.2-billion new Terminal 6 isn’t far behind, with more than $1 billion to untangle the airport's road network. A vast cast of public and private partners, including airlines, construction firms and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey with its consultants, must coordinate across the multiple construction sites to keep an active airport functioning even as it is being rebuilt. The new terminals will showcase architectural touches meant to immerse passengers in the New York experience upon arrival or departure, such as sweeping views of the city through skylights and oculi. Designers have striven to incorporate emerging technologies for everything from staggered drop-off curbs to biometrically driven, seamless transitions through security. Today, we pause to honor and remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on this day 23 years ago. We stand united in our collective memory, paying tribute to the victims and their families, first responders and survivors who demonstrated extraordinary courage and resilience in the face of unimaginable tragedy. With hope and fortitude, the people of New York rebuilt their lives and their city, and Banker Steel and NYC Constructors were humbled to be a small part, having fabricated the steel for the underground column structures and erected the structure of World Trade Center Tower One, located at the site of the former Twin Towers. This clip features the signing of the first column at our headquarters in Lynchburg, VA as well as the installation of this column at the site of the September 11th attacks. Date: December 19, 2006 Speaker: Former New York Governor George Pataki

Congratulations to the Banker Steel and NYC Constructors teams on topping out the east pier at the John F. Kennedy International Airport's New Terminal One!

Work on The New Terminal One's east pier is progressing steadily, with several milestones reached in the past week! In recent days, our team completed the steel erection on the east pier and celebrated the placement of the final primary beam (as seen in the first photo). Escalator installation is also continuing in the east pier and we recently added the last pre-fabricated escalator (seen in the second photo), located near our future Gate 7. Installation of such pre-fabricated escalators requires careful coordination among all teams on site, as installations must be timed to take place during brief breaks in the steel erection schedule. Going forward, all future escalators at the New Terminal One will be installed in the conventional fashion – assembled and installed in sections. Many thanks to our workers for your hard work everyday, as we mark milestone after milestone!
