Become a Pillar in the community

About us

Pillar Credit Union’s mission began in 1960 with a group of hard-working railroad workers. Originally named Marion Erie Credit Union, we were established as a state-chartered credit union, exclusively serving Erie Lackawanna Railroad employees and their families. Over the years, we grew through mergers with Quaker Credit Union in 1977 and Parker-Elgin Federal Credit Union in 2003. In 1998, we transitioned to a community-chartered credit union, expanding our membership to include all of Marion County under the name Marion Community Credit Union. Our reach extended further in 2008 with the inclusion of Morrow County, and in 2018, we added four more Ohio counties: Crawford, Wyandot, Richland, and Hancock. Recognizing our growing membership of over 9,000 across multiple counties, we rebranded as Pillar Credit Union in 2020. A key milestone followed in 2021 with the opening of our full-service branch in Mount Gilead. From our humble beginnings in a “lunchbox office,” Pillar Credit Union has remained a safe place for the workers who keep our communities thriving. Over 60 years later, our commitment to strengthening the financial fitness of our members from all walks of life continues to guide us forward.
