Despite the challenges, they've consistently met the requirements of their grants and dedicated an average of 246 hours of attorney time to their cases. Here are some highlights: ✅ A Better Childhood: Getting ready for their trial in November. ✅ Rights Behind Bars: Sparking action from Congress for prison reform, following the closure of FCI Dublin. ✅ Texas Fair Defense Project: Challenging the legality of Operation Lone Star and seeking damages to hold accountable government actors and a private corporation implicated. ✅ Upper Seven Law: Deposing key figure in Montana's SB 458 case. She brings a wealth of experience fighting for justice. ✅ Partner at Boies Schiller Flexner, where she focuses on ensuring ethical supply chains and labor practices globally. ✅ Previously served for over a decade as a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, representing the government in 50 trials, and 100+ grand jury investigations. ✅ Co-chaired the D.C. Human Trafficking Task Force, showcasing her leadership in dismantling exploitative systems. The Foundation is proud to partner with the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) in their crucial fight for justice. Our grant fuels NWIRP's impactful litigation in federal courts, where they: ✅ Defend the Rights of immigrants in removal proceedings. ✅ Challenge the Expansion of Civil Detention of immigrants. ✅ Establish the Rights of Noncitizens seeking immigration benefits. Since 2020, NWIRP work has resulted in: ☑️ 2,202 new voters naturalized 43,500 asylum applicants positively impacted; ☑️ 17,000 survivors of domestic violence positively impacted.
