“I cannot tell you how many children I see in their bedrooms, on live streams, with tons of people just watching them... asking them to do certain things.” 💔 We’re proud to share this brand-new FULL DOCUMENTARY about the shocking online world your child is growing up in, and to sponsor its free release so every family has access to this important resource. You may be tempted to say, “Not *my* child,” but this new movie reveals just how widespread issues like sextortion, suicidal ideation, and online predation are. 😔 👉 Please share this with your community to help other parents and guardians learn about what their kids are facing — at this very moment. https://bit.ly/32usCYx #Childhood2Movie #SocialMedia #MentalHealth

Is Roblox safe for kids? The fact that Nickolodeon Network gave Roblox the 2024 Teen Choice Award for Favorite Video Game would indicate that Roblox is, in fact, safe. But the reality is much darker. A new report by Hindenburg Research labeled Roblox a "pedophile hellscape for kids." In today's episode, Titania Jordan of Bark and I break down the report findings and make recommendations for parents.

This is such a heartbreaking story. 💔 Parents, please stay aware of what AI platforms your child may be using on their home and school devices. So many of these chatbots are largely unregulated and don't provide parental controls. #AI #Parenting #ChildSafety

[BREAKING] Can A.I. be blamed for a teen’s suicide? A 14-year-old Florida boy became obsessed with a chatbot on Character.AI before his death, even expressing suicidality. Dangerous apps like Character.AI cannot continue to be available to minors. Thank you to the Social Media Victims Law Center and Tech Justice Law Center for supporting families who have been harmed by social media and AI platforms. Don’t let addictive tech and social media platforms steal your child’s one precious childhood. ✅ Delay social media access for as long as possible ✅ Introduce tech in small steps and with the proper parental controls and protections in place ✅ Talk with your kids about the WHY behind your decision to delay ✅ Create opportunities for your kids to make real-world connections ✅ Lean into physical/analog experiences like riding bikes, painting, board games, reading, etc. ✅ Find other families and communities to delay with It won't always be easy, but it will always be worth it. #ChildSafety #Technology #Parenting

Roblox just made an announcement. Will they be cleaning up their platform after the horrific findings by Hindenburg Research? Nope! They are putting the onus on parents, duplicating the approach of Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram and offering parent accounts. The update states: "We’re changing the way parents manage their child’s experience on Roblox by introducing Roblox accounts with parent privileges. After linking an account to their child’s, parents can view and update parental controls for their child all from their own device. Parents also get access to insights about their child’s Roblox usage, such as their daily screen time and on-platform friends. In most regions, these features will be available to parents of children under the age of 13." Why do these companies continually task parents with the impossible? Why are parents having to protect our kids from harms that the platform itself allows for? Thank you to Chris McKenna for alerting me to this update from Roblox. Get ready for the flood of news articles celebrating Roblox's efforts to protect kids! We cannot fall for this gaslighting and need to continue to demand that tech platforms start prioritizing our children's safety.

While Hindenburg Research was investigating Roblox and finding sex parties, games where you can buy and trade child sexual abuse material, games where you can shoot up a hospital, games where you can kill pregnant women, "survive Diddy" games; games where you can view hate speech, rent an apartment by performing sexual favors, and much worse.... ...Roblox was busy creating a digital safety game in partnership with Google called Be Internet Awesome World. Cool, Roblox. Let's put the onus on kids to keep themselves safe on your platform that is proven to be unsafe. This is not helpful. As Lawrence Bonk aptly asked, "Isn’t this like the wolf teaching Little Red Riding Hood about how to survive in the woods? It's been 13 days since the Hindenburg report hit and Roblox is still in business. How could this be? Millions of children are being harmed and exploited, in addition to the company lying to investors, regulators and advertisers about their user metrics. I'm at a loss with this one. Thank you to Titania Jordan for getting on the line with me to break this report down. Full episode coming soon on Scrolling 2 Death.

What an unforgettable Bark Week out west! 🌵☀️ Traveling from all over the country, our remote team gathered in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona, for an incredible week filled with bonding, brainstorming, planning, and a whole lot of fun! 🤠 From a karaoke night that brought out our inner rock stars 🎸 to engaging team trainings that sparked new ideas, each moment was a reminder of the amazing work we do every day that helps keep kids safe online and off. We shared incredible dinners, filled backpacks with school supplies for the local Boys & Girls Club, learned how to solve a Rubik’s Cube, and even enjoyed a spirited game night that showcased our competitive sides. Bark Week truly recharged our spirits and reaffirmed our commitment to the life-changing work we accomplish together. We’re already looking forward to next year's Bark Week! 🎉 A big thank you to Samsung Electronics America and Vertex Wireless LLC. for sponsoring Bark Week out west! 🙌 #CompanyCulture #RemoteWork
