Updates

  • Hello my name is Marissa! I'm a Senior Bookseller at Barnes and Noble Clarence and at the Walden Galleria store! This month I'm doing my best to highlight Women authors in Horror! I find that Women in Horror are always pushing the boundaries and creating something new and exciting. They keep reading interesting! I love how so many women authors put their on twists on the horror genre, on class tropes. I love how they can hold a mirror to their reader and ask "Is this you? Is this us?" #WHM

  • Hello! My name is Shayla, and I’m from Barnes & Noble in Bozeman, MT. One of my favorite female authors is Riley Black. I absolutely love her book The Last Days of the Dinosaurs. Riley is not only a highly respected paleontologist but also a science correspondent for Smithsonian Magazine. As a woman pursuing a career in paleontology, I admire Riley for blazing a trail for more women in science. #WHM

  • Hi, I’m Nicole from the Barnes & Noble in Brick, NJ. Practically ALL my favorite books have been written by women, which made choosing one this month to showcase a nearly impossible feat. But, Carmen Maria Machado’s genre bending work is both comic and deadly serious as it delves into the realities of women’s lives and the violence visited upon their bodies. #WHM

  • Hi, I'm Rachel from Barnes and Noble in Bozeman, MT. My favorite book by a female author is Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. Like her fierce antiheroine, Mitchell was tough-as-nails, writing her masterpiece while enduring chronic pain. She also fought to protect her book’s international copyright, setting legal precedents that remain in place today. #WHM

Hi! Our friends at Elsie Rogers Elementary School in Mishawaka received a grant recently for a book vending machine and we were the suppliers of the books. They picked all the best titles and now the students have even more reasons to be their best and be rewarded with reading! <3 Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation South Bend Community School Corporation Elkhart Community Schools School City of Mishawaka Education Foundation

  • We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Leonard Riggio, the founder and former chairman of Barnes & Noble, Inc., on August 27, 2024, at the age of 83. Len's vision and entrepreneurial spirit transformed the retail landscape, establishing Barnes & Noble as the largest bookstore chain in the U.S. His leadership spanned decades, during which he not only grew the company but also nurtured a culture of innovation and a love for reading. A true son of New York, public servant, and tireless advocate for public education, literacy, and the arts, he supported organizations such as the Children’s Defense Fund, the Anti-Defamation League and DIA. We honor his remarkable contributions and extend our deepest condolences to his family. Len will be greatly missed by all who knew him. #LeonardRiggio
