Last week, we were fortunate to be the recipients of one of the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville's Giving Tuesday grants. A special thank you to Torch Technologies, Inc. for their generous donation to sponsor our Evolution of Weather Satellite technology. #givingtuesday

We know winter is just around the corner, but be sure to check out these weather safety tips as we wrap up fall! 1️⃣ Stay Visible: With shorter daylight hours, wear reflective clothing or accessories when walking or cycling, and use lights on your bike if necessary. 2️⃣ Clean Gutters and Drains: Prevent potential flooding by clearing debris from gutters and drains to ensure proper water drainage from your roof and property. 3️⃣ Check Home Heating Systems: Ensure your heating system is in good working order, and have your chimney or flue cleaned and inspected if you use a fireplace. 4️⃣ Install Carbon Monoxide Detectors: If you use gas-powered heating appliances, install carbon monoxide detectors in your home to alert you to any leaks. 5️⃣ Fire Safety: Be cautious with space heaters and other heating sources. Keep flammable materials away and never leave them unattended. 6️⃣ Be Prepared for Storms: Keep a flashlight, extra batteries, a first-aid kit, and non-perishable food and water on hand in case of power outages or severe weather. 7️⃣ Hiking Safety: If you enjoy hiking in the fall, let someone know your plans and expected return time, and bring appropriate clothing, navigation tools, and emergency supplies. 8️⃣ Protect Your Garden: If you have a garden, prepare it for winter by covering delicate plants, draining hoses, and securing outdoor items that may be affected by strong winds. 9️⃣ Stay Informed: Monitor weather forecasts and stay informed about any potential weather-related advisories or warnings in your area. 🔟 Stay Hydrated: Despite the cooler weather, it's important to stay hydrated, especially if you're active outdoors.
