It's SecTalks meetup time! Join us in this monthly security get together later today? Topic: Toil, and security, and, security operations! (and more things security, and some SRE wisdom). We'll get the chance to talk about toil in our lives, whether it is alert fatigue or threat overload, or trying to automate and automate to stay on top of things in incident response, vulnerability management or other areas - and this sometimes backfires. Toil is real, toil is there, and discussing the topic will help to understand it and get some (practical) ideas on how to minimize it! Choosing the (repetitive) tasks to automate, and automating the right way and how standardization (or the lack of it) can be a make or break for e.g. security operations, and infosec in general. And of course awareness and getting the right people involved! All these of course apply to SRE/DevOps life, so bring in the multidisciplinary angles and learning! Join us and share your thoughts and toil (horror) stories. As always, let’s learn together! We’ll also get the chance to talk about some upcoming security conferences coming up soon: OrangeCon (tickets sold out - whoop - but trainings still available!), Wiccon and ONE conference! See you there? As always, it's on the last Thursday of the month (29/08) at 18:30 (doors open at 17:30), in Rotterdam (right next to Central station)! 🚀 As per usual it’s an open conversation session so anyone can join, share thoughts, ask questions and we all learn together and from each other. See you at the CIC (Cambridge Innovation Center); doors open at 17:30 - drinks (and snacks!) provided🍻 ☕️ 🍵 - so feel free to join earlier, or stay later, and get some conversations going! More details —> https://lnkd.in/eMsAQDBT Thanks to everyone for supporting & contributing to the SecTalks sessions in previous iterations! We had a great BSOD by CrowdStroke discussion last month, and how security can get it wrong, and how to get better by understanding and improving! See you all there! Can’t make it this month? Please join the community, share to spread the word to the security community and beyond, and see you next time!

It's that time of the month (and what a month this was/is)! SecTalks monthly security meetup time & the topic of the month: 🥁Crowdstrike, BSOD and business continuity: infosec’s role and responsibilities 🔥. We'll get the chance to talk and analyze what’s happened/happening with Crowdstrikegate (or is it CRWD2k bug?!), and see the implications for infosec and beyond. Try and understand it from all People, Process, Technology perspectives (business continuity and the availability premise that infosec is responsible for, security vendors and in general running 3rd party applications on (critical) endpoints/infrastructure, devops and QA, creating resilient orgs from the people and process side of things etc.) So bring your thoughts and curiosity along (and your favorite meme?!)! Viewpoints from all perspectives help get the full picture and understand how we can learn from every (big) mishap, and go back and be better. We’ll also get the chance to talk about some upcoming security conferences CfPs (and deadlines!) coming up soon: OrangeCon 🦁 and Wiccon👻! See you there? As always, it's on the last Thursday of the month (25/07) at 18:30 (doors open at 17:30), in Rotterdam (right next to Central station)! 🚀 As per usual it’s an open conversation session so anyone can join, share thoughts, ask questions and we all learn together and from each other. Are you joining? See you at the CIC (Cambridge Innovation Center); doors open at 17:30 - drinks (and snacks!) provided🍻 ☕️ 🍵 - so feel free to join earlier, or stay later, and get some conversations going! More details —> https://lnkd.in/eGqJ4S-n Thanks to everyone for supporting & contributing to the SecTalks sessions in previous iterations! We had a good Zero Trust, in the world of Cloud Security, discussion last month, and got the chance to talk about the new kid on the block in security conferences, OrangeCon! Apart from arranging things with UEFA🏆, so there’s no scheduling overlap with EURO football matches during sectalks, we’ve also arranged for some ☀️- so this can be a rooftop special session! It's SecTalks meetup week! Topic of the month: Incident Response! Love it or hate it, security incidents will be part of our life. Are we ready? What better way to understand more about the full cycle of Incident Response, methodology and approach, and technical aspects of it, than hear it from a global IR team, tackling incidents in complex environments! 💪 Leading the conversation is a member of the Microsoft DART team - “the Microsoft cybersecurity team we hope you never meet” - though in this case we are meeting proactively! 😎 See you there? As always, it's on the last Thursday of the month(28/03) at 18:30 (doors open at 17:30), in Rotterdam (right next to Central station)! 🚀 As per usual it’s an open conversation session so anyone can join, share thoughts, ask questions and we all learn together and from each other. It's SecTalks meetup time again! Topic of the month: eBPF & security! Linux is in everyone’s life; personal and/or professional, probably you are already using it, and if not, you are but you don’t know it yet! eBPF? Runtime / language to work directly with the kernel in Linux (flexible and efficient virtual machine-like construct) - used in a number of kernel subsystems (e.g. networking, tracing and security (e.g. sandboxing)!). More efficient, more secure! We’ll use Cilium as an example for an eBPF based implementation, talk about security and how you can do security better, and easier. Bringing back some wisdom from the Config Management camp earlier this month (yes, after FOSDEM and before Hackerhotel - February was a busy month ^_^), we’ll use the eBPF / Cilium to engage in yet another month of interesting security conversations, in another DevOps+Security topic (devsecops, secdeops, + other flavors…). Can’t make it this month? See you next month --> March topic: Incident Response! We’ll deep dive on the how’s and the why’s and we’ll look at some (major) real world incidents, and how for us all to get better at IR! All directly from the eyes and experience of the well respected Microsoft’s DART team! Big thanks to Boi Sletterink for last month’s Cryptography wisdom in our January session - it was a bit longer than usual session, but we all left wiser and (much) more interested in cryptography! Apart from the amazing session, bottom line still remains: “don’t roll your own crypto kids….” See you there? As always, it's on the last Thursday of the month(29/02) at 18:30 (doors open at 17:30), in Rotterdam (right next to Central station)! As per usual it’s an open conversation session so anyone can join, share thoughts, ask questions and we all learn together and from each other. Are you joining? What a better way to kick start a (more) secure 2024, than with the January edition of SecTalks Holland meetup - topic of the month: Cryptography! 💪 We’ll get the chance to explore the world of cryptography via a small intro, understand why crypto is hard to do right, look at some DOs and DON’Ts and use a real world example to put it all in practice. Join us to, as always, learn together, share thoughts & insights! The aim is to share some practical advice, discuss security considerations and some approach/tooling ideas. 🔐 See you there? As always, it's on the last Thursday of the month(15/01) at 18:30 (doors open at 17:30), in Rotterdam (right next to Central station)! As per usual it’s an open conversation session so anyone can join, share thoughts, ask questions and we all learn together and from each other. Are you joining? More details —> https://lnkd.in/e-bqPf5i Thanks to everyone for supporting & contributing to the SecTalks sessions last year! The last session, on Security Awareness, triggered some interesting conversations, looking at security awareness it from different angles, (concluded that excessive phishing campaigns are counterproductive :-)), and all agreed that it’s an important topic, that many of us are passionate about - so feel free to bring your energy and thoughts back again! See you all there! Can’t make it this month? With the holiday season ramping up and the new year around the corner, giving back is something we can all do (more of)! Security Awareness and (non-evil) holiday cookies seem to be appreciated! We’ve run some tests the last few weeks and we can confirm the findings ^_^ It’s amazing to see the curiosity, excitement and smiling faces of the younger generation taking on security; we learned a lot as well. Thanks to all the groups for coming by and hope you have a more cyber aware future! Holiday cookies also put smiles on people faces apparently… What’s your giving back ideas, and plans for 2024? And to wrap up, many holiday wishes go without saying! A big thank you to everyone we managed to interact and collaborate with this year, and of course, a keep up the good work to the security community (who’s usually extra busy over the holidays). We’re all stronger together! Safe travels and meaningful holidays!  P.S. If you are at CCC, enjoy being “unlocked” and see you around! #infosec #community #securityawareness #cybersecurity #cookies #strongertogether #37c3
