Thank you to our amazing staff for hosting a fantastic family recreational day at Bashor Children's Home today. While we provide children with Help for Today and Hope for Tomorrow, we never stop striving to bring joy back into their childhoods. Every month, our recreation department plans a special activity for families and residents. Today’s event celebrated fall with pumpkin painting, tasty treats, and family photos.

  • When you see the yellow Safe Place signs in our community, did you know that it’s Bashor Children’s Home that responds when children show up in need? We provide the critical help they seek, offering safety and support during difficult times. We're excited to announce our most recent Safe Place location, a Goshen physician’s office on South Main St. in Elkhart. Each new site strengthens our network and we’re actively seeking more businesses and organizations who are open 24/7, 365 days a year, to ensure help is always available. If you're interested in learning more or becoming a Safe Place location, simply email aarbaugh@bashor.org, and we’ll guide you through the process. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children.

  • At Bashor Children’s Home, we believe in providing Help for Today and Hope for Tomorrow. As part of that hope, several of our cottages had the chance to learn about planting, growing, and maintaining a garden. The residents had the unique experience of preparing and enjoying a meal with the veggies they grew themselves! It was a rewarding journey from seed to table, teaching valuable life skills and creating a sense of pride. Thank you to our staff for going beyond every day.

  • Bashor Children’s Home would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made today's Human Trafficking in Our Community discussion such a success! A special thank you to our incredible panel of speakers Michael Deranek Rebecca Shetler Fast Justine Wise, LCSW Ian Hurst for sharing their expertise and to all the attendees who took time to join us. We’re especially grateful to Shotunus Peterson, MSW, LCSW and the Indiana University South Bend (IUSB) School of Social Work, Child and Parent Services (CAPS), and the Indiana Trafficking Victims Assistance Program (ITVAP) for partnering with us in this important effort. Together, we are raising awareness and making a difference in our community. Let’s continue the conversation and work together to combat human trafficking.

Sharing your blessings with those who otherwise would not be able to experience something like this, is what we're called to do.

A supporter of Bashor Children's Home donated tickets to a Chicago Cubs game. Kids earned tickets in a drawing for their prodcutivity and postive behaviors in the school classroom. Then we did the drawing. The supporter who provided the tickets attended the game as well, treating every kid and staff member to ice cream and giving them special "first time" certificates to make the day even more memorable. For all the kids who went, it was their first MLB game!

Staff Appreciation Week is in full swing at Bashor Children's Home! Yesterday, we celebrated with "Twinning Tuesday," where our staff doubled the fun by pairing up in matching outfits! The day got even sweeter with a special ice cream treat from The Chief. We love seeing our team come together and enjoy these moments. Their dedication to improving the lives of children in our care is truly inspiring. Stay tuned for more highlights as we continue this week of gratitude and celebration!
