Roger Miksad visited the #battery separator manufacturer for a tour of their facility in Oregon, led by Chief Technology Officer Richard W. Pekala and featuring state-of-the-art technology that's critical to the production of next-gen energy storage products. Battery Council International is proud of all of our members, from manufacturers to suppliers to recyclers, and the critical role they play in the domestic battery supply chain.

In recognition of BCI's 100th anniversary, BCI has established the new charitable BCI Foundation which was funded by initial donations of more than $115,000! These funds will initially be directed to scholarship awards for the 2025-2026 school year, including: 🔋 The BCI Battery Chemistry and STEM Scholarship ➡️ will distribute $5,000 to individuals studying electrochemistry, science, technology, engineering, mathematics or a related technical discipline that will support energy storage applications. In partnership with the Women in the Global Battery Industry, BCI will select at least one woman recipient each year as part of BCI’s efforts to foster diversity in the industry. ⚡ The BCI Community Scholarship ➡️ will distribute $5,000 to an individual who is an employee or direct family member of an employee currently working in a BCI-member company. BCI was honored to be represented at the grand opening of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Grid Storage Launchpad on Aug. 13. BCI president Roger Miksad was in Richland, Wash., for the ceremony. The R&D facility will accelerate development of next-generation grid energy storage technologies that are safer, more cost effective, and more durable. BCI has worked in partnership with our partners at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and our national labs for many years in pursuit of these goals, and we're excited to see where this new facility will take the battery industry.
