Tomorrow is the beginning of November and everyone is thinking about 2025. I had the pleasure of speaking with BAYADA Home Health Care's Michael Johnson to discuss what he sees for the future of home health care in 2025 and beyond.
“When asked if I could be featured for Disability Awareness Month, I thought, learning disability? That’s nothing compared to other disabilities. But then I learned that one in five children are diagnosed with learning or attention issues—20% of our youth. Realizing that, I wanted others at BAYADA to know they’re not alone in facing these challenges." —Anne, BAYADA Director Anne’s words shed light on her journey of living with a learning disability. From feeling embarrassed as a child to facing daily struggles, Anne’s story is one of resilience. Despite the obstacles, Anne is proud of her achievements, such as obtaining her master’s degree in special education. Her advice to others? "Embrace your struggles, and don’t let them hold you back." Our Delaware offices teamed up to volunteer in the Spoonful of Hope program at their local Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Delaware (RMH). This program provides families staying at the RMH with prepared meals while their children receive medical care at nearby hospitals, helping to relieve the burden of shopping, cooking, and cleaning. Together, the team served over 100 healthy and delicious meals to the families, making it a truly rewarding experience. Hurricane Helene caused catastrophic damage in parts of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Our employees and clients are still in the recovery stages after another life-threatening hurricane brought unprecedented devastation to central Florida. A group of dedicated BAYADA clinicians—Logan, Melissa, Vanessa, Laurie, Carlie, and Erin—selflessly volunteered their time after the hurricane to support those affected by the natural disaster. They spent time clearing furniture from a flooded home, transforming it from a chaotic space into one where healing could begin. They also drove essential supplies donated by fellow clinicians. We are proud of our BAYADA team for coming together to exemplify "The BAYADA Way" and for showing up for their community. This LGBT History Month, we proudly spotlight Mark Wussler, a Physical Therapist (PT) from our BAYADA office in Maui, Hawaii. Mark has been part of the BAYADA family for nearly nine years and has dedicated 45 years to the practice of physical therapy. He came out in the 1970s while in PT school and has been a passionate advocate for the LGBT community ever since. Although many of his classmates were supportive, he recalls facing challenges from others at his school. Mark shares powerful memories from that time, including attending the first National March on Washington for Gay Rights in 1979, participating in the Gay Games for over 20 years, and continuously advocating for and educating those around him. Mark is proud to be part of a company that embraces him fully. As he puts it, "Honestly, at BAYADA, I feel like I’m treated just like any other clinician, which is exactly what our community has been fighting for all along." At BAYADA, we are relentless about improvement—and we’re grateful for Mark’s dedication and authenticity.
