After 15 years as a pastor, burnout led BAYADA Chief People Officer Jeff Knapp to seek a new path. His journey from the pulpit to the C-suite taught him the significance of empathy, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of purpose. This unconventional set of experiences eventually led him to BAYADA. As a people-first leader, Jeff believes in the power of human connection and the importance of building a strong, values-based organization. Many of our BAYADA clients and employees were impacted by Hurricane Helene, which caused catastrophic damage in parts of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Millions of homes and businesses are without power, and flash flooding and mudslides have isolated communities, forcing officials to airlift food and water to those in need. Jennifer's journey with BAYADA is truly inspiring. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 30, she took a leave from her career in education to focus on healing. Inspired by her healthcare team, she then shifted to pursue nursing so she could also make a difference. Today, she is now a BAYADA nurse and a nurse educator at a local nursing school. “Managing my illness requires daily self-monitoring, medication adherence, and professional support. Sharing my story may help someone else.” As a passionate member of S.A.F.E. (Support, Awareness, Friendship, and Education), she’s inspiring others to embrace their journey and advocate for mental health awareness. We are grateful for Jennifer's contributions and look forward to her continued participation with S.A.F.E. and her future with BAYADA. BAYADA Division Director Matt Lippitt recently lent his expertise in a panel discussion on “Breakout: Taking Value-Based Care to the Next Level." Held during the National MLTSS Conference, the discussion focused on the importance of strong collaboration between managed care organizations and providers in advancing value-based care within managed long-term services and supports. Matt and the other panelists highlighted the necessity for MCOs and providers to work together to build capacity, share resources, and set clear performance expectations. This collaborative approach is essential to overcoming fragmentation and ensuring the success of value-based arrangements. Wendy has found meaningful career growth at BAYADA. She began her journey as a certified home health aide and worked her way up from an office associate to being promoted to client services manager. "One thing that drew me to BAYADA was knowing that many shared the same love for helping others and spoke the same native language as I do. I feel that being able to communicate with caregivers and clients in their language makes a huge difference and allows me to help them better. Sharing similar Hispanic heritages allows me to empathize and understand where they are coming from."
