This was at the top of LinkedIn News a few days ago. I don't agree with this. Let's not fall for the either / or trap. It’s either coding or good judgment. How about we develop good judgment and great technical skills? We can have both, and STEM courses are excellent contexts in which to teach good judgment. Every year, we at Bay Area Learning Partners help students engage with challenging material and emerge more highly skilled, more engaged in learning, more inspired, more curious, more confident. It’s disappointing whenever I see our educational institutions retreat from teaching STEM. Let’s be careful that the age of AI gives more to our youth, not less. In an interview with David Westin, Effron said that it’s better for kids to develop good judgment and critical thinking skills to prepare for an economy reshaped by artificial intelligence.
