The Bay Area Workforce Development Board (Bay Area WDB) is one of Wisconsin’s eleven regional Boards established by the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) to address economic workforce needs in Brown, Door, Florence, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano and Sheboygan counties. WIOA is designed to strengthen and improve our workforce and help get people – including those with significant barriers to employment – into high-quality careers and help employers hire and retain skilled workers. Whether an individual is a student seeking career and education funding and support, an adult looking to up-skill or change career paths, or someone under or unhappily employed and looking to improve their circumstances, Bay Area WDB can and will assist you. 🎉 Celebrating Success! 🎉 On August 1st, 2024, the second cohort of the Windows to Work group at GBCI graduated! This journey saw three remarkable men successfully complete the program. Two will be joining the Bay Area upon release, and one will head to Dane County. Our Windows to Work Coach, Christopher Bowers had this to say: "I'm incredibly proud of these men for battling through numerous adversities, including cancellations, group member removals, and balancing their other obligations while attending our sessions. They handled feedback, both positive and negative, with respect and grace, making our group a truly wonderful experience." Looking ahead, Chris will be conducting interviews for the third cohort in mid-August, with a tentative start date of August 27, 2024. By 2040, Wisconsin could have a deficit of 12,000 to 19,000 nurses, according to Wisconsin’s Department of Workforce Development. In this segment, WHA's Senior Vice President of Workforce and Clinical Practice Ann Zenk explains how this particular deficit is disproportionately impactful on hospitals. On July 31, 2024, the Menominee Business Services Team (BST) had the privilege of visiting the Tribal Administrative Offices. A big thank you to Kacey Corn & AnnMarie Johnson for meeting with us and discussing the various opportunities and ways BST in Menominee could collaborate with the Menominee Tribe to support their 2024 Strategic Plan initiatives.
