Appalachian State University’s Aging Well program is a model of locally-driven work that’s helping North Carolinians of all ages thrive; it’s bringing together the whole community to help the whole-person, and that’s making a real difference in people’s lives. Blue Cross NC recently collaborated with the university to expand Aging Well’s footprint. It now serves older residents in 10 counties, including Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany, Avery, Yancey, Mitchell, Wilkes, Burke, Catawba, and Caldwell counties. But its reach extends far beyond that. If you live in North Carolina, this program might someday help you … even if you never directly take advantage of the services it offers.
