In just one week, BCSE will lead a delegation of more than 30 businesses and organizations to #COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. There, the BCSE coalition will connect with governments, stakeholders, and advocates to provide insight from the real economy on what policies best catalyze investment and deployment of #energyefficiency and #cleanenergy solutions.   Established in 1992 in advance of the first United Nations Earth Summit, BCSE has been an accredited business observer to the UN for more than 30 years. Today was #Energy Day at #COP29 - and BCSE spent the day sharing private sector insights on the progress of #cleanenergy deployment and how to overcome challenges of financing and workforce development. #EnergyEfficiency improvements in 2022 reduced #energy use equal to 3x the amount of solar and wind capacity brought online. But the world is off track to reach the global goal to double energy efficiency by 2030 that was adopted at COP 28. A coalition of countries, businesses, and organizations - anchored by Mission Efficiency - is urging world leaders at #COP29 in Baku to commit to actionable measures to unlock the energy efficiency investment that is crucial to meeting climate targets and urge its inclusion as a top priority for COP 30. “Now is the time to act,” said BCSE President Lisa Jacobson. “If we do not raise energy efficiency as a priority now, we are at risk of missing our collective climate goals. The LDES Council is pleased to release its Annual Report 2024. The report offers a current perspective and accounting on the global policy, regulatory and market environment for LDES, along with updated data and industry use cases. The report outlines the state of the #energy sector, including key reasons to build, deploy, and scale LDES technology, key findings about global LDES deployment, and seven critical enabling strategies and actions, so-called enablers, to accelerate the rollout of LDES. The potential for #energyefficiency remains vast and largely untapped – and we are not on track to meet the COP 28 outcome’s goal of doubling the global average annual rate of energy efficiency improvements by 2030. The global community achieved only 2% efficiency gain last year, and even less improvement is expected this year. Investment in energy efficiency must triple by 2030 to fully implement the “double down” target. To raise the priority of this critical issue, a global coalition of international organizations, civil society, private sector, industry, and finance organizations, anchored by Mission Efficiency, have come together in unified support to champion energy efficiency as a cornerstone of the energy transition.
