Kirby Fowler, president/CEO of The Maryland Zoo paid a visit to BCT along with fellow staff members and Dawn, the Animal Ambassador African Penguin. We were thrilled to not only meet Dawn but learn about the Zoo’s conservation and sustainability efforts. As one of the oldest Zoos in the United States, the Maryland Zoo is involved in local and international research and conservation programs dedicated to the African Penguin, Panamanian Golden Frog, Chimpanzees, Africa Elephants and Native Maryland Species. And, the Zoo recently announced the birth of its newest baby chimp, Ivy! BCT is thrilled to be a corporate sponsor of the Zoo and to support its tireless efforts ‘to engage people in the wonders of the living world through personal encounters with animals, fostering empathy and lifelong support for conservation of wildlife and wild places.’

We were excited to be a part of the Placemaking Event at #LexingtonMarket celebrating community, food, and culture. The panel was hosted by Pickett Slater Harrington and covered the many ways community input influenced the development of Lexington Market. The international guests asked questions on many topics including financing, incorporating community design input, and socioeconomic benefits. BCT’s Christopher Holler spoke alongside Seawall’s Katie Marshall to guide the audience through this experience. Thank you to the organizers and to Baltimore Public Markets Corporation for continuing to include us in this amazing project. #PlacemakingWeek #Placemaking #Architecture #PublicMarket #Baltimore #Community
