  • Today is International Trans Day of Visibility—a day to celebrate, uplift, and honor the resilience, brilliance, and contributions of the trans community. 💜 ✨ Visibility is more than just being seen—it’s about being valued, respected, and safe. It’s about ensuring that trans individuals are not only recognized but also supported in ways that allow them to thrive. As a community committed to wellness and liberation, we want to take a moment to highlight incredible Black trans leaders who are partners in our work and healers who are making this world safer, more inclusive, and more just. From advocating for mental health and housing security to reshaping media representation and creating spaces for trans joy, these individuals are changing lives every single day. To celebrate these individuals, BEAM partnered with Black owned beauty and wellness brand Herban Body Care to give wellness gift sets to help further celebrate them for their contributions. Stay tuned for more on that collaboration! #TDOV #BlackTransLivesMatter #TransLiberationNow

  • Today is World Bipolar Day and as this mental health challenge has its complexities, bipolar disorder is so often misunderstood—especially in Black communities, where stigma can make it harder to seek support. But the truth is, those living with bipolar disorder are not just their diagnosis. Many experience deep creativity, visionary thinking, and a unique way of seeing the world. Today, we honor the full spectrum of Black folks navigating this journey—the challenges, the triumphs, and the creative genius that often blooms in the process. Let’s continue to break the silence, uplift mental health, and make space for healing without shame. Many thanks to Guy Anthony founder of Black Gifted & Whole for sharing your truth. To all our folks navigating life with Bipolar. You are not alone. You are seen. You are brilliant. Visit our website for resources, community spaces and more to help you on your journey.

  • World Bipolar Day is approaching, and this year at BEAM we are lifting up the voices of Black folks living with Bipolar on what they want folks to know about their experience! We want to take this moment to honor the resilience, brilliance, and lived experiences of Black folks navigating bipolar disorder. Thank you @nieishaspeaks founder and Executive Director of @yourpurespark for sharing your story with us. What are the other myths we need to dispel? Sound off in the comments! 🎤

  • Season 2 Episode 3 of Black Healing Remixed: The Podcast is OUT NOW! In a world of noise and chaos, we create a refuge—built on trust, powered by people. Together, we rise, we serve, we show up for each other. Because real change starts with community. Our Director of Training and Programs Natalie Patterson took a deep dive into a discussion that encourages the exploration of rage amongst our people, with Dr. Jennifer Mullan of Decolonizing Therapy Dr. Mullan speaks with Natalie about the power of the people in community, and the importance of using our medicine to be of service to others. Check out the episode now, wherever you listen to podcasts!

  • Are you holding yourself accountable?! When more of us in our community reflect on our behaviors and address repair, we provide the opportunity for all of us to heal. Our Self Accountability Flow tool is built on the pioneering work of Mariame Kaba and Shira Hassan. It is a great starting point to inquire on how to help yourself or someone in your community reflect after engaging in behaviors that have hurt or offended someone. Remember: Self-accountability isn’t just about growth—it’s about honoring our journeys and breaking generational patterns. When we own our mistakes and their impact, we make more room for healing to grow. 🌱

  • We can’t talk about mental health and not talk about immigration policy. For Black and Brown immigrants specifically, this political moment has been filled with heightened racism, systemic oppression, family separation, and the emotional toll of uncertainty looming over all of us. From detainment to displacement, Black immigrants—especially those of African and Haitian descent— are being targeted and attacked. We have to stand up and protect our folks. At BEAM, many of us are immigrants and or second generation, and we stand in solidarity with our folks. Our spaces are for ALL Black folks. Follow organizations like @HaitianBridge, @UndocuBlack, @BAJI (Black Alliance for Just Immigration) who are doing the work to uplift and protect our communities and get involved! Remember: We protect each other and we make our healing possible together. #MentalHealthMatters #BlackImmigrantsMatter #HealingJustice #UndocuBlack #BEAMCommunity

    • The image contains bold, stylized text on a black background with a mix of colors and artistic brushstroke effects. The text reads:

**"IMMIGRATION IS A MENTAL HEALTH ISSUE"**

The words are written in a graffiti-style font with different colors:

- "IMMIGRATION" is in a golden-yellow hue.
- "IS A" is in blue with white arrows pointing to it.
- "MENTAL HEALTH" is in a purple shade with a spray-paint effect.
- "ISSUE" is in white with a similar artistic effect.

At the bottom, the logo and name of **BEAM (Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective)** appear in white.

The overall design has an expressive, urban aesthetic with dynamic typography and color contrasts, emphasizing the message that immigration is linked to mental health concerns.
  • JOY, POWER, and PEACE were reclaimed, and our team is FULL! We are so grateful to each and every person who chose to spend their Saturday with us at Black Masculinity (Re)imagined: The Summit! It is essential to address the truth about the harm patriarchy inflicts on our society while also recognizing the lack of acknowledgment men often give to this harmful ideology. Each facilitator @natalieispoetry , @yoloakili , @dr.alipscomb , @creative_ian , and @itsalliebrown held this principle close as guests expressed vulnerability, resonance, and shared experiences through storytelling. BEAM’s Director of Training and Programs, Natalie Patterson had the intentional goal of creating a space with tailored programming where men and masculine folks could feel seen, heard, and loved. A space for our community to heal, learn, and play! A huge thank you to our event producer, @daisha.simona , for bringing this vision to life! Visit beam.community/events for upcoming opportunities to be in community with us!
