Lawyers are the most disappointed by generative AI. Bain & Company recently released a report, showing some eye-opening stats about the growing “disillusionment” with Generative AI. AI was expected to fully automate complex legal tasks, like drafting contracts, analyzing case law, and predicting outcomes, but it falls short in handling nuanced, context-heavy work. While AI can process vast amounts of data, it struggles to apply legal reasoning to complex, multi-layered cases where human judgment is essential. But I think AI is still going to revolutionise how lawyers work! There are a lot of great AI startups in the legal space that focus on small, routine tasks for lawyers. We at Beau help legal teams with small tasks in their client-facing workflows: extracting data from specific documents uploaded by clients, dealing with the chaos of unstructured client documents, validating data during file uploads, etc. And it just works! There are many areas of legal work where you can find tiny tasks that could be completely streamlined by genAI: - Cross-referencing documents - Automating document review - Tracking regulatory updates - Extracting data from emails - Managing client intake - etc. It's the best case of 'think globally, act locally'!
